Well the yusho is already in the books, but there are a few people on the edge of their kachikoshi: Shodai, Oho, Fujinokawa, Daieisho, Oho, and Aonishiki. Beyond that we've got Asahakuryu (on his 2nd maegashira appearance), Kotoshoho, and Hoshoryu at 10-4 looking to pick up one more win.

Thanks for posting these daily threads with comments on each bout, tigeruppercut. Are you the guy in the white hat and jacket in the second row?

Yeah I enjoyed it, just gave me something to look forward to with the daily matches.

The guy in white was there every day, and this isn't the first tournament I've seen him at. Must be nice to throw down like 300,000 yen on your hobbies, although it's cheaper than I thought it'd be.

Nice throw by Fujinokawa (121kg/267lbs) vs Oho (178kg/392lbs) to get his Kachi-koshi.

Dewanoryu defeats Wakanosho in a playoff for the juryo win at 11-4. Takerufuji had a throw down at the bales to eke out his kk at #4, so he probably won't be back to maegashira just quite yet.

Bit of a disappointing showing from Kirishima today, basically got a slow walk over the bales. But I can understand why you wouldn't want to work too hard muscling Kotozakura around when you've already got the win.

Kind of a weird expression from Kirishima after the match. Looks like a mix of "Where'd that truck come from?" with "I still get to be champ, right?"

Oshoumi muscles Tobizaru off the dohyo and into one of the sitting judges.

Hard tachiai between Shishi and Fujiseiun, but Fuji then slaps Shishi past and he can't recover before getting pushed out from behind.

Tokihayate looked calm as Fujiryoga drove him back to the bales, and circled out when he got there. But the bigger man wasn't having it and went for a throw that got Toki halfway there, finishing the push out with one hand on his back.

Ura gets flippied out of the ring (but not off the edge) by a Chiyoshoma throw.

Mitakeumi tries a pull down off the tachiai but just gets shoved out.

Kotoshoho henkas the smaller Asakoryu

..

And with that I'm off to a sumo watch event. Been an exciting tournament this time around!
