How many of those cities actually kept the name for a couple of centuries? I only know about the one in Egypt.

Explanation: The ever-humble Alexander the Great had a tendency to name (or rename) cities after himself. Not in different ways, more like "Alexandria, Alexandria, Alexandria, Alexandria".
