Hey all,

I have noticed a number of communities listed on https://browse.feddit.de/ are not findable via the community browser here. Is there a batch job that updates the community list? If so how often does it run?

Thanks

I've found that if they don't show up in search, you can go directly to the url and subscribe there. After that it will actually show up in search here.

For example, if you find [email protected] at browse.feddit.de, but it doesn't appear when you search communities for whatevercommunity, then you can go to the url https://lemmy.perthchat.org/c/[email protected] and subscribe there.

This has been a bit hit and miss for me though. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to work, but sometimes you'll get a 404. My guess is that it's because the initial request the perthchat instance makes to lemmy.ml might pull down a lot of data, and if lemmy.ml is under load it might drop the request.

I'm switching between Firefox and Jerboa, some communities are working fine, some are empty, some show posts but no comments, some I can't find at all. I assume it's just a combination of me not knowing what I'm doing and growing pains as there are a lot of new pages popping up. This will take some getting used to.

I just gave this a shot and got a 404.

My instance is: https://lemmy.perthchat.org

I wanted to test this one: https://aussie.zone/c/australia

Resultant address: https://lemmy.perthchat.org/c/[email protected]

No joy.

Edit: Have had success by searching (in Firefox, not Jeroba) for !community@instance

Eg [email protected]
