Any major breakthroughs to cheer? Headaches to vent about? Is there a package you're glad to have discovered or hope you'll never see again?

Last thing I used LaTeX for was a quotation. Things just generally work for what I'm doing. The last package I needed to find was longtable when I had a table span multiple pages.

I love being able to just write and know the formatting and layout will be great.

lualatex: recently created a scientific poster for a conference and had enough graphs that I ran into the memory limit for pdflatex. Tried a bunch of stuff with tikzexternalize but couldn't get it to work for some reason I could not figure out and was incredibly frustrating. Discovered that lualatex is basically compatible with pdflatex with no extra changes to my normal Tex usage and can handle loads of data.
