bros are discrediting what is historically the most prestigious tournament in the world lol
It's 7 games over a long season and some players will never have a chance because of where they are born.
While true re the 7 games…the lauded CL knockouts are the exact same (7 games). For so many years we’ve heard talk about how CL knockouts are what matters and where the best play (a point I only half agree with - there are often some very average teams in the latter stages of the CL).
In reality there are only ever about a dozen or so big club games a season (top of table league clashes, CL knockouts and top seeded CL group games). And in WC/Euro/Copa years there’s another 6-7 games…ie an 50% extra important games (and for many these games, in particular WC games, are far more important than all but the very latter stages of the CL).
You’re making it seem like it’s just 7 meaningless friendlies. The World Cup is the most iconic and prestigious tournament across all sport. Matches there are obviously going to be prioritised.
Kind of hard to credit the WC when he didn’t do much and was given the most PKs ever in a WC. Overall, Messi had a sub-par year and a gifted WC will result with a gifted Balon D or yet again.
Hahaha didn't do much. Get back to school lad and leave the football chat to the adults.
ronaldo fans coping hard
I really dont get messi winning it.
Didnt really do all that much for PSG last season. Played in the leagues cup for Inter Miami with a few appearences in the MLS.
He did win the world cup with Argentina but ww should really stop with the whole focus being on him, there was a whole squad who contributed. Martinez was a stand out just off the top of my head.
Pains me to say this as a united fan but Haaland broke records last year, him and his team won a treble. Any other year he would be nailed on to win it.
To those of y’all saying Messi won the World Cup, therefore he should win it, what about Muller in 2014? Silver ball and silver boot, won the Bundesliga along with the dfb pokal, but ended up 5th in the ballon d’or.
To those arguing that Modric set a precedence about the World Cup taking priority, it came hand in hand with a UCL 3peat. Messi’s World Cup triumph came alongside yet another humbling ucl ro16 exit. The French league isn’t serious with the way psg operate + he was outscored by Alexander Lacazette, who could barely manage 4 epl goals in his last season with arsenal.
The only reason Messi wins over Haaland is pure PR rather than sporting merit. I’m saying this as a Manchester United fan, who’d hate to see a city player win a ballon d’or as much as anyone.
Poor Haaland got robbed.
Bro wasn’t even the player in his own club or the World Cup
Lmao
Anyone who thought Haaland had a chance after Messi won the world cup was simply a crazed CR7 fan or just living in denial..no surprise here
Messi had a great season but lets not pretend that if u swap their seasons Messi doesn't win.
Haaland winning the WC wouldnt have mattered if messi had won CL, PL and scored that amount of goals and beat records. Messi couldve just scored and assisted like 5 each and still would win this due to the WC.
BARCA DNA RAAH
Where's the shame?
Only Messi could win a Balon d'Or in the MLS
Don't know why people are confused that Messi would win the balloon d'Or and he deserved it .
Deserved
There will never be another as good as Messi 💪💪
who cares
Messi with another robbed award this guy has legit won things just because of his name
Wc plus league plus cup 60 plus ga dribbles Chances created Big chances created Less big chances missed also preformed In big games
apple gonna launch some shit just to show messi's ballon d'or in the video.
Meh I would have still given it to Haaland and I’m a Liverpool fan. He had a far better season than Messi even WITH Messi winning the World Cup. Statistically haaland was on another level.
He is just a scorer. Thats it and he disappeared in critical games.
Lol just a scorer who demolished multiple records in one season and won the treble. Are you listening to yourself?
they won ECL wo his goals
Fraudenel Riggitini
Ridiculousss
If you remove all Haaland’s goals in the UCL knockouts, Man city still wins the UCL.
Just saying…
I’m not too into women’s football but I know Putellas is supposed to be the best player, what gives Bonmati the edge over her?
We spend all year slagging off journalists for being lazy hacks that could be replaced by a 10-year old with a Microsoft Office subscription, then once a year for some reason give them enough merit to have their own award that people take seriously.
haaland wasn't even that good lmao, people are watching numbers instead of games
