While we try out reddit alternatives, why not try the open source reddit clone, lemmy. I honestly don't know a whole lot about the whole fediverse, only heard about mastadon vs twitter recently but I never used twitter and don't see a reason to start with mastadon. But the churning community is small enough and separate enough from main reddit, why not give it a try.

I was an Apollo user and was subscribed to r/churning. Trying to subscribe to all my old communities and found you! Using WefWef and it feels very similar to Apollo. Happy to start anew and see how it goes!

Thank you for giving it a shot! Finally taking the time to find and subscribe to all my usual communities/subs.

Why not indeed!

I was never really getting the hang of mastodon, but the "federated" part seems to be less of an issue here.

If you're not using it, check out the app "Jerboa"

Pretty functional, not a million miles off RiF

Initial signup is still a weird barrier for these federated sites. I kinda just picked one at random that seemed general.

I’m checking out Mlem, an iOS version. Not near as good as Apollo but it’s still in beta.

Fellow Apollo migrant here also loving wefwef. Makes the transition a little smoother.
