As an Asian, wearing outside shoes inside is incomprehensible to me.
Also, your feet must goddamn stink if they're in shoes for the vast majority of the day, every single day.
As a non Asian is better to change your shoes, it keeps your home cleaner.
How does changing shoes keep your home cleaner than just taking them off?
Like, the first thing I do when I arrive home is quitting my shoes and putting ones more much comfy.

If the author likes to walk around in his/her house with shoes on I don't give a shit, but if you are entering someone else's home, you god damn respect their home rules, its called being a decent human being for God sake.
