Reminds me of the Rohingya refugees(?), all the hoo-haa on Muslim solidarity, but once they're here, it's just sigh... Hope this is different

The bad impression Rohingya refugees left on a lot of Malaysians has to do with their sheer numbers. Bad apples within them have ruined the goodwill of people here, not just the Muslims.

some muslims were definitely the most vocal and xenophobic one when they decided they're done with Rohingya refugees from what i've seen. i personally think it's not ok to pick and choose who you want in...

Yea, no doubt about the high influx, bad apples and bad taste. That said, I can only recall the loudest(minority?) call for extending help from politicians and affiliated NGOs trying to score religious brownie points. I'm more frustrated about the follow-up, regardless of whether we take them in or not.

i think it's kinda cruel to let them come then ask them to go back. either make it permanent or don't let them come at all. very much prefer they prioritise say, a few thousand of them (with appropriate assistance) than idk unlimited supply of them till ppl get fed up and then be racist as shit.
