I drove from St. John's to Conne River yesterday. I'd say the smoke was pretty high up in the atmosphere in St John's. Turned the moon red the night before. Driving over to Conne it was hazy at ground level from around Gander to partway down the bay despoir hwy. The sun was a bright red in conne around 6:30 pm, more high atmosphere smoke, but at ground level it seems fine.

St. John's is perfect right now. Wind just picked up and it's killing the humidity and cooling the place down.

Is the air quality supposed to be bad right now?

I don't know if it is related to the smoke in QC, but I found it very smokey before the rain started.
