Here’s where I’m coming from…

AOC is doing great. His numbers are right there with the top of the league after three starts. He’s new and will need time to develop, of course…. but he showed he can hang with a top three defense.

Benefits here, he’s cheap. We have a great rookie contract to spend cap money elsewhere to build up the team around him. Bolster the OLine, pump up the defense, this is the way.

AOC looks bad bruh

We won’t make it anywhere with him nor Jimmy

We still need an actual QB

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't say bad when relative to draft position and being a rookie but I still say we draft a guy and may the best guy win in next years camp.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

In 3 starts, he has 600 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs. He’s benefiting a lot from a rejuvenated run game.

He’s been serviceable, I don’t see where he’s been “great”.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah real head scratcher saying AOC is up there with top of the league talent. He’s barely getting 200 yards a game, struggled in the red zone.. and if we are down even one touchdown in the 4th.. i wouldn’t be too confident in a game winning drive from him. Its still too early to tell, but he is far from top of the league so far, and more of a game manager rn

Too early. No need to make this decision now. Axtually, I'd argue that we need to keep into a variety of options to see what the next best move is, rather than thing ourself down to anything or anyone

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I admit I’m intrigued, and he has the rest of the season to prove it, so let’s see what’s he’s got.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

As much as we understand this is a 10 week job application process for AP, Bo, and even Patrick Graham. It's the same for AOC. They're all passing the grade after two weeks. Let's keep reviewing every week.

Now let's throw logic out the window, in my opinion you're correct lol. He gives me Brady potential vibes with a slightly better set of wheels.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

AOC does not have better wheels than Brady

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

he doesn't have anywhere close to the arm strength of Brady. Brady could flick it 60 yards. AOC can barely throw it 40 with all his might

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I think he’s been great relative to his draft position, but not necessarily great on an absolute scale. But it’s too early to say he will or won’t get there. He’s had 3 games as a starter. Lots of room for growth. He also has one of the best set of surrounding players in the league in Adams, Meyers, Mayer, and Jacobs, so we’ll get a clear look at what he’s able to do

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He gives us the best chance to win now, and he’ll improve but I haven’t seen anything yet to say he’s our franchise qb

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m not sold on AOC as the franchise QB but even if he’s not I think he’ll make a great backup. Can’t say what he is at this point with his limited amount of play but he doesn’t jump off the screen. If somehow one of the top prospects fall or the Raiders can find a decent deal to move up they should draft another QB in the upcoming class and let a QB competition happen. If they both turn out looking great you can trade one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I guarantee we take a QB in the first two rounds next year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s better than Jimmy but there’s still a lot of talent out there. Just gotta see how things end io

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m going all in on AOC

I have hopium running through my veins

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He almost threw the game away with a pick 6 at the end of the last game, and his numbers are not very good. He's not turning the ball over, but he's not doing a great job of moving the ball either over the course of his 3 games. He's got 7 more to make the case, but so far he sure looks like a 4th rounder who has been forced into the starting role to me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's been 3 games...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s the present. At best, I’d like for him to win out this year and start next year with a rookie first round QB sitting behind him

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

“AOCis doing great. His numbers are right there with the top of the league after three starts”. Where are you basing this of off? In history? This season? He’s only throw 1 TD across 2 starts. Let’s settle down here.

He’s been ok, he stood tall against a ferocious defense but not exactly lighting the world on fire. He needs to start putting up big numbers or continue to win games in order to convince the raiders to ignoring drafting a QB this year.

It’s a loaded class, it’s would be dumb for a QB-needy team to avoid drafting a guy this year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s the now. Why can’t that be enough?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

We're going to look back at the 2023 draft class and see Aidan as the best QB.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Naw, Stroud is def the top QB from the class.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is either the mot sarcastic or most ignorant comment on this entire thread so far.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I stand by the statement.
Look at some of the game film. He makes throws that I don't see Mahomes and other supposed great quarterbacks make.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s cheap but Jimmy isn’t unfortunately. Mcdaniels fucked that one up so badly.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He's the starting QB for the Raiders. So, I'll support him and the team. In the off-season, if the team is able to improve in any position, it should.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He can't throw it deep, man

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Rookie contact and draft more defense and oline

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I can’t stop thinking about politics when I hear AOC. Isn’t there something better or more original to call this guy?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It’s been his nickname since highschool. Which was before AOC the politician was relevant.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m hyped too, but to say he’s right there with the top of the league is just not being honest. He’s exactly what this offense needs, but he’s not even remotely close to the top of the league. Your Josh Allen point isn’t even remotely comparable when Josh Allen is leading the league in touchdowns while having all those INTs. Aidan starts dropping 2-3 touchdowns a game and I’ll be right there with you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

"AOC is doing great. His numbers are right there with the top of the league after three starts."

Are we watching the same games?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Which numbers are among the top of the league?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This post is why people laugh at Raider fans...are you serious?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Stop this. There is a great QB class coming into the league. They need to do their due diligence and go get their guy. Start by looking at Michael Penix Jr please.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

1st round - best defensive player available, preferably a DT, or another CB. Day 1 starter.

I think in the 2nd, there will be several Qb’s available still in a pretty deep draft that have the potential to be a franchise QB. If it makes sense there, I think they could definitely draft a QB to compete with AOC heading into next season.

But that’s only if we can take a solid defensive player round 1.

3rd round is a great round for interior help on the Oline, may be able to snag a pretty good tackle there as well.

If they keep playing well and inspired, they have plenty of options heading into the draft. Curious to see if Champ gets the final say as opposed to AP (if they are kept as GM/HC obviously).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He's the future...of 2023 at least. I agree rookie QB contracts are the way to go, but I have a feeling this team will play themselves out of a top 10 pick and push them way out of the range for your top tier QB's.

Caleb Williams and Drake Maye will be the top picks. This then leaves you with the next tiers:

-Bo Nix

-Michael Penix Jr.

-Riley Leonard

-J.J. McCarthy

-Jayden Daniels

-Quinn Ewers

Those are late 1st-2nd round guys. Do you roll with AOC or take a rookie? The Free Agent/Trade market is less than ideal. For me, the only guys worth considering via trade would be:

-Kyler Murray (the contract is bad)

-Justin Fields

All of this is contingent on how this season goes, and if we keep the current GM and coach.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He has his shot. No need to commit right now. If he can lead us to a winning record, at least 1 win against KC, and maybe slip into the playoffs, I think he should be penciled in as the man next year and we can focus on other parts of the roster.

If not, we need to at least keep our options open. Who knows what could happen with the head coach position, free agency, and the draft.

For the record, I like him and I hope he is the guy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s the bridge QB to the rookie we draft. He definitely has promise but we need a few games to see what he really can do

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He’s averaging less than 200 yards a game and has more interceptions than touchdowns. Let’s hold off before we go anointing him the future of the franchise.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The Defense is the future. Raiders are drafting a QB this.coming draft. They have to. Or sign one. Brian Hoyer ain't gonna cut it.

How much dead cap space is the release of Jimmy G gonna cost the Raiders?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Homegrown talent. I’m in.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Y’all are too high on AOC. He’s a better option than Jimmy G, that’s all he is (for now). Even then, I’d go as far as saying that the only reason he’s a better option than Jimmy G is because he has a more versatile arm and can actually throw downfield.

Let the kid finish out the season and we’ll see where assess his performance then. I haven’t seen anything special or promising from AOC. He definitely deserves a chance to finish out the season and prove me wrong and I hope he does. But based on what we’ve seen so far, there’s no way we’re getting anything done with him as the QB

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He's capable of better. What he does vs Miami will help determine if he's real or not.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Miami is a very beatable team if our defense can hold them back a bit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Let’s see how we all feel in two weeks

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'd like to see how he does with some time in the pocket

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They have the rest of the year to figure this out. He and the OC are tight, and AP has a good plan to pound the run and quick hit pass routes to allow the game to slow down for AOC. I like him a lot. His accuracy is a strength. Quicker reads, decisions, and ball control need to be an emphasis.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

No he’s not

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We need line help pretty bad
