I'm looking into sharing a neighbour's internet access as a way to save all some money. Not steal is internet connection, but to share it :-)

I'd like to be able to connect to his Wifi, but to use it was the WAN port of my own network: so my own router, SSID+wired ports, DHCP/IP range, etc.

I guess that I can do this by using 2 devices (eg: a wifi client connected via ethernet to a wired WAN port of a router), but is there an all-in-one equipment which can do this?

So if you are able to run a direct wired Ethernet connection to the neighbors primary Wifi Router, then this is possible (and will be the best way; but there are problems with this method).

A wireless/Wifi connection between you and neighbors Internet connection is also possible, but depending on how the wireless connection is done will determine how good the connection will perform.

YES. I think usually the dedicate one radio to the uplink. The standard AP has two radios, by default one in 2.4GHz the other in 5GHz band. Not sure if newer Wifi standards offer more flexibility while keeping performance. Technical details.

But in general a „wireless bridge“ is a mode many devices support. GL.iNet did a great job to offer this very easy to use (hiding the OpenWRT away).

But you can also use two devices. A wireless bridge (L2) and a router of your choice.
