From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I honestly hope it does well, the AUR (and also, with that, the chaotic-AUR repo) is the main reason I always stick with Arch and Arch-based distros.

same, I considered switching to openSUSE but a lot of the software I use would have to be compiled for it and while doable it would be a pain compared to just installing and updating from the AUR.

The AUR's main(/only) reason I include something arch based in my bedrock linux installs (arguably why I go with bedrock at all). It's like adding AUR to void or devuan or whatever I hijacked with bedrock. Still, that's an appealing headline that debian based may be getting similar.

I would have preferred easy guides and process to become a Debian maintainer for your own package.

The docs explicitly mention that the dependencies should be from Ubuntu: https://docs.hunterwittenborn.com/makedeb/debian-user-repository/dur-user-guidelines/package-relationships

the packages MUST be applicable to those on the latest Ubuntu LTS release

Is this a DEB repository for Debian or for Ubuntu?

Interesting. Are there any other 3rd party Debian repositories that you people use regularly worth knowing about?
