"If it was up to me I would love to get rid of the entire exclusives on consoles, but that's not for me to define especially as a low-share player in the console market. The dominant player there [Sony] has defined market competition using exclusives, so that's the world we live in. I have no love for that world."
I'm not sure I believe him on that. Exclusives on console have been a thing pretty much the entire time. Him trying to blame on that Sony is a little weird considering that.
Yeah, as the longest standing player in the space clearly Nintendo is to blame.
Are Sony and Microsoft just trying to shift the blame back and forth between themselves lately?
Meanwhile Nintendo:
I think people would be less upset about Microsoft and Sony exclusives if they were simply maintaining decades old flagship series, rather than fighting over new titles. Nobody cares about Mario being a Nintendo exclusive because Mario has always been an Nintendo exclusive. The XBox and the Playstation don't have anywhere near so strong an association between the console and specific characters and series.
tbh though Nintendo would be fine without exclusive 3rd party games a la MHRise. Just 1st party and second party games a la Bayonetta 2/3 wouldn't shift the tides all that much.
And then you have Valve, who was offered the 10 year Call of Duty contract like the other platform holders and cloud services were and they were like "nah bro, we believe you. we also don't care."
Basically. The lengthy court battles currently being waged in the US and UK basically means that a lot of dirty laundry is being aired.

Lol says the guy who’s buying entire developers and publishers and then making their games exclusive to his platform (starfield) what a load of shit. This whole tit for tat thing between MS and Sony is pathetic.
Exclusives have been the console sellers since the industry stopped making pongsoles. Xbox exclusives have never been that great for the most part so i definitely believe him.
Why would Sony want to give their best games to Microsoft while all the exclusives from MS are shit tier ?
