The recent Black Friday sale on the UDM Pro ($279) had me considering it for my home network but I’m wondering if something like that is more of a luxury vs a necessity.

Internet fiber service would be 1 Gig Up/1 Gig Down.

I had originally been considering something from EdgeRouter but the sale on the UDM Pro caught my eye. Still, $279 is pricey for me on a router and I was curious if it was worth it compared to a Nighthawk setup or something on the edgerouter line.

For what it’s worth I was planning on using UniFi APs and a PoE switch for the rest of the network.

What do you guys think?

The sale is over? Would you mind sharing where it's on sale? Maybe they'll be on sale for Cyber Monday as well

The sale is indeed over. It was only a 48 hour deal or something for Black Friday. The sale was on the ubiquiti website.

If you’re using UniFi APs it’s kind of a no brainer

Do it. It’s next level from consumer grade hardware.

I have a UdM wish I ordered the UDM pro when I had the chance. Now I just ordered the UDM pro and probably will end up selling the UDM.
