Thanks. Just shy of 10 hours on decals. I never exactly “liked” the Jegan. I bought it on impulse when it was on sale. After building the kit, I thought the design was cool but I hated the color. And to be 100% transparent, this is not my original design. I found it online and changed the colors a little bit.

MG Jegan

Full paint. Only the clear pieces didn’t change color. G-rework waterslides. The decal sheet is on par with ver. Ka kits I’ve built. So many waterslides in hard places. On compound curved surfaces. Over corners. Across panel gaps. Decals everywhere.

I feel like it could be piloted by someone with a name now and it’s no longer destined to be beam saber fodder.

If you think that Delpi is that much better than Bandai, just wait till you try G-rework.

If you use setter and softener properly, your decals will hold up without topcoat. They won’t hold up to play or ham hand but otherwise it’s good. I will say that what you’ve heard is correct in regards to OEM Bandai decals. Those things will rip if you breath on them wrong. I’ve had no problems with Delpi or G-Rework.

You don’t have to top coat over them if you don’t want. Especially if you use mark setter. You just have to be careful when posing.

Nice build. Looks really clean. Hand painting details is hard. That’s why I use waterslides. The learning curve is steeper than stickers but the decals slide around a little bit so that you can get the placement where you like it. With some practice and softening solution, even the one that go around corners aren’t too bad.

The MG Jegan has finally done getting painted. I have a set of waterslides that it’s getting now. For everyone that has been keeping up with the situation, I ended up getting Gaia Notes #021 semi-gloss white thinned 1:1 with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. Everything came out nice and smooth. No topcoat will be applied because I like the shine level.

I left Reddit during the Great Migration 2 years ago. Lemmy reminds me of the way Reddit used to be

If they made this in 1/100 I would buy 2 of them

It’s not all heartbreak. When it’s clamped in the ms cage, you can’t tell that anything is wrong. It just means that I will order a metal frame for the full armor when I get it.

My Unicorn broke its lower knee joint last night. It was hanging on an action base. I bumped the table. Lower leg fell off. I suspect that I damaged the little ring connector during assembly and it was barely touching but gave way when the table got jarred.

Thanks for the props. I’m just trying to keep the community from getting stagnant. As a bonus side effect, others have started posting more and engagement / comments are up as well.

The MG Jegan is coming along

More progress on the MS Cage. Also did a little work on the custom painted MG Jegan.

Side note for anyone following along at home, the createx white that I sprayed never dried. It is still sticky a week later. I am going to strip it off and try something else. And recommendations on a good white. Would be a plus if it is already satin or semi-gloss.

Bonus fruit in background.

The MS Cage is coming along nicely.

There’s not much to paint on the Unicorn, so I’m painting the MS Cage and decided to finally paint the people I’ve been collecting.

The MG Unicorn is dry fit. Now for paint and decals.

What are you all working on?

My power was out due to storms yesterday evening so I couldn’t do any paint work on the Jegan. As such I e started building the MG Unicorn I got yesterday.

Biggest MG box I’ve seen

PSA: Don’t be like me. If you’re using a new product for the first time, spray a test panel. Unless you want to watch your paint wrinkle 10 minutes after spraying top coat.

“Build Gunpla” they said “It’s all Unicorns and Iron Flowers” they said They were WRONG
