It was time in 2016. Biden barely won in 2020 and somehow Dems took that as a mandate to be even more conservative. At this point I have no idea how progressive ideas ever get implemented.

Exact same happened to Obama and the 2008 recession. Getting blamed for shit that happened before the election even took place. But Democrats refuse to play the blame game, people got to spout the lies about things being cheaper when Trump was in office unchallenged, and the Dems refused to promote solid solutions to even the most basic of core issues like antitrust, price controls, higher minimum wage, or even fucking climate change.

And now, with so many fewer people turning out to vote for Dems, even Trump's lies about voter fraud will have been validated in the minds of the morons, who will attribute those low numbers to harsher rules stopping the fraud.

The the rest of the world uses it very differently than the US. In most places a liberal is, at best, very slightly left of center, but would still be considered conservative. And with how instances like hexbear, .ml, and grad consistently trash talk centrists harder than bonafide right wingers, "liberal" has become a dirty word here on Lemmy.

But if you're American, being a liberal is more or less synonymous with being on the left.

99% sure Lemmy has a higher average age than any social media other than maybe facebook

If only they'd said "what did II miss?"

I'm trying to imagine being one of those backstage people. How do you not feel sudden and intense fear when this guy says that to a huge crowd of morons? Do I already have to be one of those morons in order to agree to do setup for this guy's rally?

And what about whoever's doing setup for the next show? I would probably stop showing up for work...

The millions of years preceding modern medicine didn't fix it, so I'm not sure how much time you eugenicists think evolution takes

That's just it though; every drop counts. It's no more "just a drop" than our actual votes are.

It's also like how people refuse to leave Twitter. "Everyone else is there! How could my leaving make any difference?"

The worst part is--it's really not. These guys could all stay millionaires and we could still solve our system's worst distribution issues. Their biggest hardship could be dealing with not being The Guy With The Biggest Number when they go to their rich guy parties.

Personally I'm in favor of making them destitute and/or imprisoning them, but going that far really isn't strictly necessary.

I had one of these and somehow it also picked up a radio station, so no matter what I played it'd be mixed with some random techno music

I know I'm ducking under the joke here but I'm pretty sure that case is famous enough that lots of younger people would still get it

I'm not seeing anything in the article about their competence being criticized. Seems like plain ol' racism to me.

Not to say the NK troops really are more competent. Their training is likely essentially the same as it was in the 50s.
