Yeah I have heard of the $50 vs $1000 comparison. While not iPhones are that outrageous price anymore I am willing to pay for a phone that is well built, software updates for YEARS, great privacy and consistent experience. It also retains its value very well. With Google I am never sure if they will kill a product, with Apple I know I will get a consistent experience (https://killedbygoogle.com/)
Granted those are important key features in a device and why I chose iPhone. But there are aspects. Apples refusal to adopt RCS, Siri is dogshit, if you repair your iPhone at a 3rd party your iPhone will disable certain software features and generally being slow to add new features that other devices have. When they do add a new feature it’s well thought out and works.
I will admit I bought into apples ecosystem and it largely works well for me, I can't say it better than It just works. You can't live in this walled garden though and have to accept other products can be better than Apple. For example, I have a Mac and Windows. If I didn't have an Apple Watch I would buy a Pixel in a heart beat. I am locked in, by iMessage and its other various services I have come to love.
Why is it that these bone head republicans have to see the world literally burning to believe climate change is real.
Im just happy for all the Lemmy apps, my favorite is thunder though. I love the open API so I can have choices over what app I want.
I see a lot of people sticking to one instance. I try to use different ones to mix it up. Yes it’s annoying losing your subscriptions but every instance has a different vibe and community which I like
