Yeah, this really bothers me. Because in reality, that company that you give money to at checkout is just going to bundle that all up and it's a donation in their name, used as a tax write-off. You as the shopper might feel nice and warm and fuzzy, but you're just giving a multimillion or billion dollar company a tax break. Just donate as yourself. If you want to help XYZ cause, do it on your own. My two cents.
Yeah we've been dealing with the same. My only option has been to switch dog chow over to a Purina blend at Sam's. It's literally 29 USD as opposed to PetsMart at over 80.
I love your caveat. My relationship with my dad is very complex, and it brings me so much anxiety to go through father's day every year. Same for mother's day, but father's day is upcoming so it's more pressing for me right now.
This have looks fabulous to me, but there's no way I'm preordering. I don't have a lot of experience with Bethesda, but I thought the overall picture painted was a pretty gorgeous one. Hopefully they can deliver. That being said, I just started playing Fallout76 about two weeks ago, so I don't mind waiting until they work sone things out. Overall though, what they are promising looks incredible. Probably too good to be true :)
I'm interested in reading this anthology. I'll have to look for it or order it at my local bookstore. I feel similarly to the author regarding cancel culture, I feel a bit uneasy with throwing the baby out with the bath water, but I know that bad ideas have to be dealt with and sometimes it takes a boycott/cancelling. I just don't want to get caught up in an unthinking zeitgeist where is reactionary cancelling. I want to be careful that I'm doing things for the right reason.
