Oh, my bad. Still an interesting read, though

This article isn't wrong, but it seems to be emphasizing that we remember our limitations and think critically when dealing with complex issues. It doesn't really match this post which seems to be promoting living in tiny, isolated, self sufficient villages. It's occurring to me in real time that he means communes

Tip on how to internalize material: when studying, every so often, either pretend out loud or find a human person to teach/explain in detail what you just learned. If you're a visual person, use a white board, if you're a movement person, stand up and be expressive.

In eighth grade, part of being in student council was helping an assigned teacher with various tasks during study hall. Well, when that teacher didn't have anything for us, my friend and I would go help the librarian with various tasks instead. We were "caught" and given detention (my first and only). So dumb.

Look, I don't live in Australia, but the way you describe it makes it sound like every single person is a cunt and every place is exactly the same, urban or rural.

Tell me the places with these mosquito sounds.

Can they take public transport or their bikes? A group have their parent or other family provide rides?

Parents aren't helicoptery enough of this is the kind of shit teens are up against day in and day out.

Here's what happens when the cops show up to a busy body call. The cops show up, they ask what's going on, they see nothing illegal is happening and leave. Kids continue living their lives. Can't loiter at the park. Don't trespass or loiter in a parking lot or other private property. If they keep calling, the cops start recognizing whose calling and stop questioning the same kids over and over. Cops always give warnings about loitering. If your police are arresting minors for loitering, you got bigger problems. Honestly, isn't it just a ticket?

Whether or not cops are safe depends on many factors, but having the cops know where you're kids are isn't a terrible thing.

cops love to frame innocent people

Get off the internet and crime shows

How dangerous are the police in Australia? How many fatalities? How often?

Edit: advocating for after school programs / funding would be worthwhile. I think your perspective is exaggerated and dismissive, but we could potentially agree on this much.

I think this perspective (that teens have nothing else in their lives other than social media) is harmful. I don't understand why they're not able to do the same things teens did before social media......

Police being called on harmless teenagers by the same busybodies over and over again kind of sorts itself out after awhile.

In addition to location, the data collected moreso resemble demographics than specifics. And on some of the most mundane shit at first glance, but actually gives a very clear picture of the consumer. Things like 1. OS installed 2. version of OS installed 3. Battery percentage 4. Total device memory 5. Remaining total memory and more things like that.

I liken it to how a psychic fools people into thinking they are magical when really they are incredibly perceptive and experienced in making judgements based on client's clothes, appearance, demeanor, etc before they even open their mouths.

Except elf isn't sexy, he's completely asexual. And the entire movie is about his character development. It has similarities, but I don't think reverse misogyny is at the bottom of it.

I think it's supposed to be like a "there's someone out there for everyone" type thing? It's my least favorite part of the movie so I'm not sure I'm saying it's good, just that it baffles me.

Christmas movies are loved bc of how comforting they are, the message 99% of the time is "i didn't believe and now i do". Honestly though it's still unbelievable to me he ends up with a romantic love interest bc he's basically a huge 5 year old, which was the joke the whole time. And it's one of my fav xmas movies.

The lights and giving gifts. My own christmas tree and lights up on people houses or businesses. It almost makes the early nights of winter worth it. Giving gifts is an art form for me. I alternate between hand making, scouring stores, and gift cards so I can invest as much time as I want each year.
