So... to clarify: sending a request for "wikipedia.org" is still gonna transmit, which means they will find you, even if you aren't "uploading"

(Also much easier to find you, since they can detect your signals when you upload, unlike listening to radio where there's no EM emission from the receiver)

Okay, so I've never been to Shenzhen (or at least I don't remember ever going there), but I just looked it up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shenzhen_Metro

If you went there like... before 2010 or something, pehaps you wouldn't see much of that, because they were kinda still building it.

The subways are all underground, so you probably didn't notice them unless you went looking for them, it's not like the US where some parts of the subway are above-ground, and others are underground. I have no idea how you didn't see any of the busses tho... perhaps you didn't pay attention to your surroundings... ๐Ÿ˜…

TLDR: Public transit exists, you either went there like a long time ago before they got built, or just didn't pay enough attention.

An app can just do a "This App Does Not Allow Screenshots"? Like... wtf?

Like, its my phone, and some app can just decide to disable a fuction of my phone. It's my phone and if I wanna take a screenshot, I'm taking a screenshot. I don't care about whatever "security" the app developer wants.

Imagine if every online shopping app whether fast food or amazon, just used this to block you from taking a screenshot so you can't save the records in case of a dispute.

Which android developer thought it was a good idea to let an app disable a function on your phone. Even iPhone doesn't have this stupid concept.

Sorry for the rant.

(P.S. I have a cheap secondary phone to take photos of the screen. "This App Does Not Allow Screenshots" my ass lmao, I'm taking the screenshot whether the app wants it or not.

I'm NOT the parent in question. Just a FYI.

And by mental capacity, I mean like not just IQ, but also other mental conditions like depression, ADD/ADHD, etc...

Like the child(ren) has not done anything wrong like crime or misbehave, but simply the parent thinking that giving an inhertance to (in their view) a "mentally disabled" child is a waste and "would just end up in the hands of government". And they justify it since they think that "the kid can just get disability income anyways". (Location is USA, for reference)

I personally think this is just very ableist... what do you think? Is it okay for parents to do that?

I mean, I have paranoia about other things too (such as germaphobia/mysophobia), but specifically on this issue of people snooping, is amongst one of my top fears, and I'm just curious if other have this similar fear/paranoia.

Like every time I wake up, I wonder if my parents or brother put some malware/spyware on my phone because they think its a funny prank or whatever.

Every time I enter my PIN for my phone, I always cover the screen before entering it in case my parents have cameras in the house. And even more so in public, I'd fear CCTV getting my PIN.

[No, I have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia, I don't hallucinate or anything like that. (But I do have a diagnosis of depression.)]

[This is distinct from the common fears of government surveillance or whatever. That, strangely enough, I fear much less, since I'm just one in hundreds of millions of people that they would care about, so I'm not so worried about that.]

 

I mean, imagine a future where every computer is just a chromebook, phones are no longer phones but just a "terminal" that streams the actual OS which runs in the cloud.

I mean, with 5G, I think its possible to make it seamless. And I think corporations push for this because they would love to have your data in the cloud, both for surveillance, and to charge a subscription for storage. I think this enshittifications would eventually happen to digital storage.

I'd predict a 90% chance of this happening, and almost everyone would be okay at first, until they start overcharging for cloud storage subscriptions, but by then it'd be too late, there'd be a monopoly.

 

Didn't exactly learned this "today" but the first time I heard of this, I was kinda surprised at this fact. I thought y'all should know since there is a case in the news that people are calling for Jury Nullification or Pardons. That could get a bit tricky considering this Dual Sovereignty Doctrine.

  • The effects don't apply until at least 50% of the population has voted. If you get more 51% disapproval, you'll still live as long as theres less than 50% of the votes submitted.

  • If someone dies before voting, their vote automatically becomes "Disapprove" (So you don't get any ideas of committing genocides)

  • Once a vote is submitted, it stays valid even if the person died. A person could also make their implant automatically change vote if they die. So someone could have their vote be set at "Approve" but becomes "Disapprove" upon death.
