I think there is a misunderstanding here. I didn't say that there is no value in discussing commonly suppressed or censored topics on the internet. I said that I would not want them associated with my regular account, which I believe is a good practice, especially if discussing said things could put you at risk.

I personally don't see the value. If I'd want to talk about stuff, I don't want my username associated with, maybe

  • the internet is not the right place to have this discussion or
  • I wouldn't want it associated to my account by any means, so would most likely create a burner account.

I also wonder if it wouldn't make moderation harder?

I am just an armchair expert, but aren't "dark empaths" already real? For example individuals with narcissistic personality disorder don't necessarily lack empathy. Also manipulation "benefits" greatly from being empathic.

Butter. Plain.

I don't know if it's a popular movie, but Ghibli's Ocean Waves is one of the worst movies I've watched recently. Nothing really happens and jumping between the protagonists memories and present time was confusing at first. But most importantly the main romance is incredibly unlikable. I don't know if it's just what 90ies pop-culture expected (young) women to be like, but looking at it now she resembles someone with serious psychological issues who compensates by being manipulative and cold.

For me interstellar suffered from it's hype. i expected a great, innovative movie and found it... okay.

About a year ago some tried to break into my flat at 2am. I was alone that night. They didn't get in because I put the chain in front of the door. The following nights I always locked the door, left the key in the lock and turned to the rightmost position, put the chain on, and moved a shelf in front of it. And whenever my roomies are gone for a couple of days, I'll lock the door. So yeah. You are not alone in this. Your feeling of safety has been challenged and that "tainted" feeling will linger for a while. I guess it's our survival instinct trying to warn us that we may not be safe. But it will get better with time.

Low level explanations for high level PC hardware knowledge.

I appreciate channels like Gamers Nexus, but a good chunk of the information they put out, are just funny words to me.

I mean the man is a lawyer. Surely that makes it legal, right?

[Solved]PC froze, now what? (discuss.tchncs.de)

What do I do, when my PC freezes?

Windows has ctrl+alt+del, does Linux Mint has something comparable? The only thing I know about is REISUB, but that borked my PC, so I am hesitant to use that again.

Are there any remaining alternatives to waiting and/or using the power button?

Edit: Thank you all for your insights and possible fixes. Crashes usually happened when I was running (cpu/ram?) heavy workload. Increasing swap space was not even on my radar, so I did that now. :) Hopefully Mint will run more stable now.

Hi there, I am currently looking for a replacement for my GTX1060.

existing hardware

  • CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5800x

  • RAM 16GB DDR4 @3600mHz

  • Motherboard MSI b550a-pro

  • PSU 750W

  • Usecase: Unreal Engine 5 and Jedi Fallen Order are the most expensive things I can think of

  • Budget ~300€

  • OS Linux Mint (Linux Kernel 6.8)

  • I was originally thinking about going with an AMD RX7600 since it's cheap and meets the recommended specs for Unreal Engine 5 (8GB VRAM, Raytracing).

Asking in other forums the intel Arc B580 was recommended. It looks promising, but since Arc GPUs are quite new, I am worried about compatibility and stability.

Are any of you using an Arc GPU at the moment and what are your experiences in Linux, primarily with productivity?

How stable are the drivers in your experience?

Could you recommend going with intel or sticking to AMD for the best experience?

Hi, I am planning to get my first wireless/BT headphones for my phone. But since GrapheneOS has always had minor bugs, I wanted to ask how reliable listening to bt speakers has been for you?

    Hi there, first post here.

I found a Sega Mega Drive in our basement and am working on restoring it. It turns on, but I have no audio or video.

I never used a cartridge-driven console before, so I want to make sure this is not user error. I need to plug in the cartridge before turning on the console, and then there should be a boot screen and eventually the game.

Is it possible for the contacts to be too dirty to allow reading the cartridges?

And then lastly, I had a peek into the maintenance manual I may need to exchange hardware parts. Should I need to; do you know any trustworthy sellers in the EU that could have parts compatible with the Mega Drive? I have been looking for a 53.2034 MHz +/-20ppm oscillater since it could be faulty, but couldn't find any shop that had one with that odd of a MHz frequency.

    Any advice is appreciated. :)

Edit: Thank you all for your comments. On further inspection the contacts on the Mega Drive's cartridge-slot were oxidized. A little bit of sand paper did the trick. :)
