I think a lot of it has to do with age. I'm probably younger than the average Lemmy user, and for me Windows 10 is the sweet spot. The older versions just feel outdated. I think it depends on the first version we seriously used and learned on.

Its funny how -40c = -40f, I wish I did that on purpose. I just don't interact with yankees a lot IRL lmao.

I chose lemmy.ca because I'm a proud Canadian patriot 💪🇨🇦🫡

Vicious by VE Schwab. It's another book in the (in my opinion) overplayed "Super heros but bad" genre, but it has a really fresh take on it.

My dad read a similar book a little bit after I was born and it really stuck with him. I spent almost my entire childhood outside with him, going out as much as we could. I think its an amazing message, and your kids are gonna really appreciate it later in life!

I definitely am one of these masochists. If it doesn't hurt at the end then it doesn't feel like a completed hike or workout. Ill take note of this and put the lighter stuff into his bag. Thanks for the suggestions!

My dad (we are both broke uni students so most of the gear is being borrowed) is super into camping and backpacking and had a lot of gear that we are free to use. I'm gonna be making his pack for him to keep the weight down. Thanks for the tips on setting the pace, I didn't think about that and I have a bad habit of going ahead and trying to speed the group up.

Its gonna be an over-nighter, so 15 km per day. I asked him how he feels about it, and have a few alternative routes going all the way down to 5 km per day. Also funny enough he was a rugby player in high school lol.

You're probably right lol. I'm gonna ask him how he feels about the distance, and maybe take him on 2 15 km hikes over 2 days just to make sure he can handle it.

My city has a 120 km track that goes all the way around. I did it last year, but it took 2 days with a stay at a friend's house after 90 km. This year we are gonna do it all in one day.

I don't really miss it at all tbh. I wasn't an active poster, but I would lurk every day. At a certain point it got repetitive, where I could guess what the comments would be like on the next post. It got too big to support any meaningful discussion, and devlovled into stupid jokes and puns.
