Okay but every time anyone posts anything historically accurate, .world goes "lies!” ffs, they're down to denying that h Hitler was defeated because of Russia and can't bring themselves to write the opening line of "First They Came," as a Lutheran pastor originally wrote it. Yes, we're not only that unaware of history, but that propagandized.

I don't think the populace does.

Yes, I forget to read the rules sometimes, too.

Beyond satisfying scientific curiosity, the discovery could have practical applications. Some organisms in the “ship goo” appear to be methane producers, potentially useful for biofuel production

🙄

means denominations that fall under that heading, as well. We can discuss things that we see as problematic, in a healthy, respectful way.

Thanks for keeping this community in the spirit of Jesus teachings.

Eta: let's do the same for other legit religions, eg no disparaging, but respectful discussion of what we see as problematic can be discussed in a healthy way.

It's like if one is dependent on a person with a personality disorder for a length of time, one ends up behaving as a person with a personality disorder. Keep not addressing the wounds and doing the shadow work, that becomes a full -blown personality disorder.

There should be no veto power and states* that export violence and their proxies should have no place on any human rights councils.

He recalled his father’s words: “Independence is not a gift. We cannot import democracy or revolution; we must create our own. What works in the United States may not suit Burkina Faso. Venezuela has chosen its path, and each country must decide what is best for its people.”

If only the global West could innerstand and overstand this.

Sigh. That's too bad for the Azeri people. It's always the people who suffer so the ultrawealthy can play king of the hill, but they're flattening all the hills.

You make me laugh, and I need that, so thanks! I'm sure your analyses are closer to accurate than my best guesses. I suppose what government or economic system states call themselves (or what media calls them) mean fa anymore. I'm not sure if we live in a post-truth world, or always have and it's just so glaringly obvious, only those really emotionally invested in their illusions and those without mental capacity to identify them (whether through overwork and other stresses or direct learning/developmental disabilities) insist otherwise. Maybe most fall somewhere between those points, I'm certainly not as informed as I prefer.

I'll have a look tonight or tomorrow. My project hours are all over the map, right now, which means my neighborhood and household obligations are, too.

Cheers!

Autocorrect is a 🤬. I have no idea what was going on with my keyboard the other day, I was typing English, my message displayed English, on screen. I posted it, answered a call, and when I looked again it was partly English, partly Mexican Spanish.

Beyond all that, my smart devices made me dumber than dirt with regard to spelling, remembering phone numbers, and to a lesser extent, grammar; but I largely blame that on myself, having picked up the habits of my current neighborhood. I'm working on improving it, so do please call me out on my nonsense!

Crosspost from https://kbin.earth/m/[email protected]/t/1576851/What-are-Principalities-and-Powers

Many modern Christians say principalities and powers represent the Kingdom of Hell and demonic entities. I can't recall all the sources, but in my meanderings over the years, I've heard both Rabbis and hermetic kabbalists argue that this is something we should take literally. Ancient Israel existed in a time of kingdoms and empires, principalities were areas ruled by kings and emperors, the powers were themselves and their appointments.

Does anyone have any logical disagreement?

In the fifth chapter of Matthew, Yeshua gave the Sermon on the Mount, the verse quoted is the third. I always had trouble with that, and a YT channel I recently watched said that it means when we realize how little we know, let alone fully comprehend, we are humble before God, and while we fall short, we stay humble. That makes sense to me, and as I learn more about my faith, I realize how many layers of kenning there are to single words of the Rabbai, let alone entire sentences and whole teachings.

I've been thinking a lot the last couple of days about the spiritually curious or spiritual babes. Jesus demonstrates a special soft spot for these, the outcasts, and those dwellers outside of Israel. Not a single miracle I can name was performed in Israel, and Jesus himself was born in Palestine.

Jesus told the story of religious clergy passing by a man beaten, robbed, and left for dead, in their way to Temple, and of the good Samaritan. He asked who among the crowd that would lure him into speaking in favor of breaking the law would leave a lamb that in the well on the Sabbath, demonstrating that legal and moral/Godly aren't necessarily the same. Questioning, seeking, not being hell-bound on moral relativism is a good thing

I don't remember which movie it was in a couple of decades or so ago, when an archangel assured a sinner that is when you feel most lost is when you're closest to being found. Indeed. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven, that isn't lo, here, or lo there, but within you.

The comments under the post get gross pretty quickly. I hope we can see this new community as kindred, and as another welcoming space for our LGBTQ family.

Edit, because I forgot to add crosspost link:

kbin.earth/m/[email protected]/t/1563826/Trans-teen-s-chess-win-in-Germany-prompts-backlash#comments

Nadja Jussupow, head of the German Commission for Women’s Chess and a former champion, stated that more trans women have been entering women’s tournaments since Germany’s Self-Determination Act took effect in 2021. The Times reports that she claimed some cisgender women players were considering quitting, fearing unfair competition.

Mfw women are covertly anti-feminist. Lady, either we're equally good, as individuals, equally different/equally the same realms, or we aren't.

Same for my religious kin. Either God made us all who we are, via nature, nurture and both, or S/he didn't. We need to get over ourselves and out of our own way. Obviously including myself.
