I thought he was maybe behind the driver's seat but it's hard to tell.

What I don't understand is how in the hell he's wearing that seatbelt. It looks like a great way to ensure you don't survive an accident

Warning: description of "light" body horror

clickHave you seen the drawing (thankfully) of the thin strip of skin above the fingernail being peeled all the way back to the knuckle?

That image ruined me the first time I found it.

I seriously think I'm going to get started on draft...

Please do, I really think you're on to something good!

Wow, I kinda love that idea! That twist sounds amazing. I'm sure it would draw an insane amount of controversy, but fuck, we as a nation need to discuss this obvious mental health problem. If "no press is bad press" for the oligarchy scum that rule our lives, then the same should go for this.

I'm not sure how well it would be received if we're expected to cheer for the would-be mass murderer, but anything is better than the flaccid "thoughts and prayers" bullshit that our politicians flood the conversation with every time, while sweeping it under the rug.

If only a movie producer was brave enough to take this on...

Oh yeah, looks like I contradicted myself in my last paragraph haha.

So it looks like it's up to the manufacturer to switch to HID protocol after boot, and if they refuse to implement that for whatever reason (probably cost-cutting), you're SOL? To be fair, I guess most normal users won't ever need to use 6 non-mod keys at a time, but that's still lame. Kinda wish PS/2 devices would make a comeback, since in addition to avoiding this problem, they don't have to rely on the CPU to poll for inputs.

I wanted to post the "everyone disliked that" meme but I'm clearly in the minority. Perhaps even more so as I love both black and green olives on my pizza 😋

To each their own! If anyone else likes olives I'll be over here enjoying my abomination alone.

IIRC you could roll over more than 2 with pretty much any other combination of keys, just not that most useful combo.

For the sake of a fair argument, my memory could be a bit distorted by my rage-tinted glasses, but the W + Shift + Space issue absolutely was a problem with mine.

After a cursory search I found this ancient reddit thread with many people lamenting the same issue. There are some people defending Logi with some decent arguments, but I'm not convinced that it wasn't intentional design.

Apparently the USB spec affords 6KRO, with modifiers. Mine was at least 3 or else I wouldn't have been able to do Ctrl + Alt + Del 😅

Ooh, that makes sense. Sounds like it could be much cheaper to process than heavy collision models. Thanks for the clarification!

I've sworn off their products, but I'm hopeful about this for the sake of those who enjoy Logitech's stuff.

TLDR: intentional kneecapping of less expensive hardware to incentivize spending more for gamer crap

In my case I had a nice illuminated keyboard that I bought because it looked slick and modern, only to discover that they had physically prevented it from sending signals for W + Shift + Space to the PC, preventing one of the most basic things you do in first-person games. You could do any combination of two of those keys, but never all three.

I feel like a nutjob claiming it was intentional without any hard evidence, but I had read several corroborating stories on various forums, and someone "confirmed" that it was an intentional decision to drive more sales of their GaMiNg hardware. I can't and won't support that shit.

Here's hoping they've turned around with new management, but I won't let them make a fool out of me.

Thanks for sharing this! I remember watching it back when it was new. It was one of my favorite things to quote, like most other millenials on the internet back then.

I was listening to a recent-ish episode of Behind the Bastards just yesterday and Robert brought it up. I was wanting to look it up for a blast from the past. Thanks again!

Not disputing you, but hasn't hitscan been a thing for decades? Or is what you're saying a different thing?

Also, I always thought that the CPU and GPU either couldn't communicate with each other, or that it was a very difficult problem to solve. Have they found a way to make this intercommunication work on a large scale? Admittedly I only scanned the article quickly, but it looks like they're only talking about graphics quality. I'd love to know if they're leveraging the GPU for more than just visuals!

Let's assume we're not stopped at a traffic signal.

This is only anecdotal, but I heard once that you're not supposed to stop altogether, rather drive at a slower pace so as to let it pass quickly. The person said what was more important is that drivers don't make sudden changes to their behavior. An EMT driver can more safely maneuver if they don't have to predict what any one knucklehead will do the moment they get close.

If this is wrong or needs clarification, please enlighten me!

TL;DR: Have a very expensive laptop and want to make sure I can create a partition on two SSDs in RAID 0 without messing up everything.

Hi everyone!

I'm pretty new to Linux and I'd like to get Mint running on my Windows machine. I used Ubuntu way back in maybe 2010 and I didn't really get why it was so great, except for "holy shit look at the kickass desktop cube!" I also use Arch By The Way with my Steam Deck, but that barely counts as "using" Linux.

These days I'm much more privacy- and FOSS-minded (not to mention more tech-savvy and comfortable with the CLI since becoming a web dev) so I'm ready and excited to take it more seriously. I definitely want to keep Windows on here to keep a more reliable option for playing games.

Now to the meat and potatoes: my laptop came with this storage configuration (capture from the product page): From my limited understanding of RAID 0, the two m.2 drives are used as if they're one, with the data being "striped" across them. Would that lead to any issues when I create a primary partition for Mint? Maybe I'm just paranoid, but the last thing I want to do is ruin my laptop.

Here's what Disk Management shows, in case the additional info. is needed:

I would really appreciate any advice y'all can offer!
