if there's a way that I can follow someone on lemmy, I would have followed you by now. this can't be more agreeable. sadly not all would agree with this kind of argument, some even resort to finding arguments that are irrelevant or weak.

people who say that we sound crazy doesn't change facts of what privacy advocates say. so what are we going to do, just be more ignorant? be "less crazy"? in this digital age, we ought to worry more about it, since unlike in the past, everyone now use the internet for everything.

though, sometimes I think people are used to being watched, or just pretend that they don't care themselves, then tell everyone else to "not worry about privacy, nothing to hide." as a coping mechanism. if what I just said is true then, the reality of those people are a somewhat kafkaesque, like they have been indoctrinated into believing something is out of their control.

(and secondly rather than banning them, if they persist, I'd try to convince them that the reality is, the crazy shit were saying, is true.)

they keep private keys in their own servers, the alphabet boys can definitely get hands on them if they want to

even if you can’t afford to pay for internet, you can still browse facebook; as they pay the ISPs to allow people access to facebook for free despite not paying for an internet connection

we definitely lack the advantage of assets now, we probably won't be doing something as fancy as facebook making it browseable without having internet, we can still do something else, regardless of not having a pile of cash.

what you said there, gave me a bit of an insight to the problems we have in fediverse, I think I can come up with a plan;

we can make a detailed-comparison of Fediverse platforms and Corporate platforms. I’m not talking about a small “comparison type of blog”. every little detail, features, design, advantages, what it lacks, etc. to serve as a guide for the developers to tackle what’s important, and what the general mass wants in our platforms.

what’s more, we could list out all of the problems that we have, from the most important to least important to tackle. to avoid the paradox of choice, once the page is complete.

we’ll make the page open source on github, so people could make pull requests to update that comparison.

(I’ll need some people to help write the page with me, we should figure out also the structure of the page first also.)

then again, this is just an idea, if people want to follow me and create a community together, I'll do it.

isn't telegram not privacy-friendly?

reddit collect user data? too bad, the name has really good ring to it.

most people use open source tools to learn languages anyway. and you would want to ditch duolingo later. It's not gonna take you far since It's for beginners.

yeah, it really depends on what you want as your goal. anything that could increase more users is fine.

It's something like that, I would try keeping the community as non-toxic as possible.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 years ago

oh.. that was kind of smooth. thanks for saying that, now I feel motivated

in speculation, how hard is it to implement an ActivityPub compatibility layer? if It's not so simple to make, then we'll probably have to resort to funding the project somehow.

I do still believe that people can be convinced, in fact I did succeed on making people use the matrix to talk to me. It's a solution if you want specifically people around you to use the fediverse. but not focusing globally is still a mistake. since globally people have more creative ways to promote the fediverse

I don't really know, I'll give them the benefit of doubt as of now. I'm sure it was a mistake probably
