Except their GPUs wouldn't be at 100% power all the time. Most of that time will be with programming, texture artistry, planning mechanics etc. I have a feeling that "back of the napkin" calculation is incredibly inaccurate.

Caveat: Old open old microwaves if you REALLY know what you're doing! They can absolutely still hold enough power in capacitors to kill you instantly.

I feel like it never broke my immersion cause how often are you stopping every stranger in a real life metropolis to talk to them? Seeing all these nameless people walking by is very much what it's like to walk around a city in real life.

While true you can talk to more NPCs, the largest city in Skyrim has like 40 people. I find cyberpunk's world feels more realistically populated for a giant city.

I would argue the two aren't equivalent as you imply. Social media has been designed to be as addicting as possible for a profit motive. Companies hire people who specialize in psychology, just to figure out how to take advantage of our brains, especially the underdeveloped brains of children, to get as many eyes looking at it for as long as possible.
