Man thats super awesome. I remember going to parks in the early 2000's and seeing people flying those things, and they were always the coolest people there. Are there communities for it, or do you mostly just do it for gigs?

Since you have more experience with it, could you elaborate on what the real difference between kbin and lemmy is in your opinion? I keep hearing that kbin can interact with Lemmy and Mastadon, so it sounds like its just "better", but I feel like thats gotta be a very oversimplified understanding.

Oh my god, I have rarely been more frustrated reading a comment. Thanks for the insight, this definitely explains a lot lol.

Well said, the problem is, I post nothing on instagram. So my presence on pixelfed is not at all a reason for anyone in my circle to join lol. I imagine since we're all the nerds of our families/friend-groups here, this is probably the case for a lot of us.

Yeah, the fact is there are just some jobs that need to exist but don't have a great sense of purpose. Very few peoples "purpose in life" is garbage disposal, but we'd be screwed if everyone gave up sanitation to seek out art or stem fields. If it pays the bills and the workplace culture is good, I'm fine with sacrificing "purpose" in my job so I can bettwr achieve purpose outside of it.

On a similar note, they make healies in adult sizes. Got a pair for my 21st as a gag gift, and ended up using them to walk my dog all the time. He's a lil guy, but hes a dense 15lbs of muscle and he could pretty easily pull me up to that "oh shit" speed.

You know, I don't think I've ever thought about your second point. That's a pretty great idea!

If this happens again, and youre really insistant on reading that answer, people are saying the wayback machine should have that info for you. It's sorta a win-win because you still get your answer and reddit doesnt get the revenue from your usage.

My SO also gets a lot of great travel and cooking tips from Tik Tok. She only recently made her reddit account lol. But that is for a medical forum, so also one that I dont expect to transition. Luckily for me, almost everything I used to follow was techy in some way, so I'm not bothered by the difference in content over here.

Yeah pretty much. As soon as facebook broke the ice on "never use your real name on the internet" it was over. Now we have entire generations that were introduced to the internet as one that was ruled by social media sites. They were never even taught the same online safety stuff that we grew up with.
