The people on the top have a variety of internal justifications for what they're doing. Some say that the world is "dog eat dog" and that they are the only ones looking out for themselves. Others say that what they're doing is for some grander good that will come once they acquire enough wealth and power. Some are deluded enough they have convinced themselves they are telling the truth. That and many more justifications fly through the heads of the ultra-wealthy and powerful as they continue spreading misinformation and enriching themselves.

Hopefully, when Ukraine retakes the occupied oblasts, they'll either deport or reimprison this guy.

Do you have a source for that? I can't find anything.

The company said that it will still have opt-out controls in “select countries” without specifying which ones.

I'm guessing that's how they plan to get around that. They will leave the toggle enabled for people registered in EU countries, and disable it everywhere else. A fairly risky way to handle it in my opinion.

You're correct to an extent, but water is still a very useful source of minerals. Potassium, calcium, magnesium, and fluoride are all minerals and salts that we primarily get from water, and thus distilled water can cause a person to become deficient in these elements (Source).

This is completely unsurprising. Under the new "free speech" regime, X has been completely deluged with antisemitic, pro-Russia, and anti-democracy propaganda. It's no wonder that advertisers don't want to be associated with that type of content.

You're correct about readding a small amount of salts and minerals, but you may not actually need to boil it. Often the membranes used for distillation have pores that are so small that only individual atoms can go through them, which effectively filters out bacteria and virions.

That's a good write-up. I generally agree with 538's philosophy on outliers, include them in the data but weigh them less heavily.

Indeed. Even if he's not guilty, combating these legal troubles will almost certainly interfere with his ability to effectively govern.

This is completely unsurprising. Often when a company goes to shit it's the board of directors, ultimately, they control the CEO and the rest of the executive team at a company. I feel horribly for the indie devs that were using Unity, though there's always a chance for this to happen to proprietary software it still sucks when it does happen.

The quoting in Lemmy is block quotes, so it appears you'd have to quote each paragraph individually. Definitely inconvenient, I wonder if there's a way they could rework the system.

It truly is disgusting that they've made this model. Tinder has always been severely flawed in my opinion, but this makes it several times worse.
