At their benefit show at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music yesterday, the Red Hot Chili Peppers decided to play Out in LA for the first time in almost 20 years (and over 30 years since they played it regularily. Also on the setlist there was Havana Affair, which they last played in 2007.

OK, I think I understand what you mean, for me it sounded more like George Clinton was a background singer, but you can definitely hear him louder in some parts. Thanks for posting those sources, I think I'm going to listen to P-Funk now.

Freaky Styley is a fucking great album! I don't recall the track with George Clinton as lead singer though, do you mean that if you want me to stay demo?

Speculation: Don't You Ever Leave is actually Save the Population. (www.youtube.com)
 

I had this realization recently and I'm sure that I am not the first one to realise this, but there certainly are similarities between the Don't You Ever Leave jam (played after Throw Away Your Television live from 2003-2007) and the song Save the Population. The chord progression F-G-A is played in both the strumming part in the beginning of DYEL and the part of STP when AK sings stay all night to save the population. Another similarity are the descending vocal lines Please don't you ever leave and stay all night to save the population, again the same notes. In 2006 they played a part of STP in the DYEL jam in Berlin, which is just another indicator. It's also important to note that they started playing Don't You Ever Leave right after the Greatest Hits Sessions when they wrote Save the Population. What do you think? Is this only a coincidence and we still have hope for a full Don't You Ever Leave song or is it clearly evolved from Save the Population?

For the canvas I want us to make something for our rhcp community. While John only maybe isn't the best choice for this community, we can try to team up with the John Frusciante community (and have maybe 5 instead of three members). The place I marked with a Red dot is our starting place as there is a bit of space left. Any other ideas are also welcome. I hope we can create something together. 🌶️
