What I mean is that they are trending towards being a smaller part of the overall market year over year.

I mean, it's already happening. AAA games are less common, and aren't doing as well as they used to, and the AAA studios are drying up. In its place, we're getting more indie games, more games from small development companies, and they all come at cheaper prices.

Consoles aren't immune to that, they're just delayed in their reaction, because the barrier for entry is higher for indie developers. But the prices that people are willing to pay on PC games isn't going up, because there are plenty of non AAA options available for less, and as that becomes normalised, expensive consoles will falter. Their flagship games will command a premium, but they won't be able to build up the game library they need to stay competitive with the PC market.

And don't forget, Steamdeck and the like are out there now, which directly challenge the niche that the Switch sits in.

I don't think we'll get a "moment", but I think the trend will end in a similar way

Yeah, that app support thing is only an issue if you have an account based on piefed. It doesn't impact you at all if you use a piefed based community (like this one) from a lemmy account and app

Peertube is also a thing. Obviously, someone can't make it on Peertube alone, but lots of folk out there upload to YouTube and to Peertube

New Zealand is about as close as it gets, but even they broke out in to war after the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi

The difference is that voting is not publicly available, so people can't be judged for their voting behaviours, however, down voting bots etc can still be identified and banned by their home instance admin.

That being said, I don't like the feature, and would disable it if I could

I'll eat pineapple on pizza, but not on a burger.

I'll eat beetroot on a burger, but not on pizza.

Pineapple is the reason I don't order burgers with the lot.

No, it's because there was a bug. Behind the scenes, it's trying to subscribe to WomensStuff@pbz instead of womensstuff@pbz. You need to cancel the current pending subscription. It will never complete. After doing that, try and subscribe again.

If you've already done that, cancel any pending subscription attempt (it will never complete), and then try again in a few hours or tomorrow. I don't know how long lemmy caches it for, but once it drops out of the cache, it will work

That should be fixed now. Just cancel that attempt and try and re-subscribe. We found a PieFed bug. Things broke because the old community had capitalised letters and the new community doesn't. It's all sorted now, but you'll need to try and subscribe again!

I mean, if your requirement for a youtube alternative is that it's as big as YouTube, you're just guaranteeing that there will never be a YouTube alternative...

Ok, I hope we've got all of the bugs ironed out now!

Chaos. I grab eggs at random, without consideration for symmetry!
