Only for the moment. Spammers have already found us, but so far in small numbers. All the other bad parts of social media are already here too, just so far not in large amounts and so you can find useful content. But those who gain from the garbage are coming and decentralization doesn't help.

If you must be on those platforms (because face it, that is where grandma is) don't doom scroll. I block all from the creator of shared memes on facebook - then when I block two I use that as a sign I'm done for the day. You should follow similar rules - make it clear that you want social media for social purposes and the memes, information (which is likely false or exaggerated), and everything else is not welcome to you. Alone you and I are nothing, but together we start to become a statistics that they will notice. Thus my plea that you follow similar rules as me in blocking the non-social parts and not doom scrolling - if there are enough of us they will be forced to make their platform more useful to keep us for one more ad.

So why are we talking - nothing gives me any indication you are in the same community as me (odds are strongly against it), so nothing is being organized. The world needs more ways to organize communities not large groups who don't have a small communities in common to do something about.

Just like kde 4.0 and wayland were not marketed to consumers and yet consumers used them anyway and then decided latter releases marketed to consumers must also be bad.

A donkey needs to eat. Grass is free in summer but limited. You need a lot of land to grow that grass. the donkey needs to eat even when you don't use it. Oil in modern cars are a lot cheaper for the amount of work you get. Acoup.org has a lot more details on how hard horse logistics are.

There have been many in the US trying for decades. So far they are losing, but they have been there for a while. Bush II campaigned on contracting our role, but soon after he took office 9/11 happened and that changed the way he worked. (though the attack Iraq faction was always there and it isn't clear if he really was going to contract our world role or if that was just something to get votes before attacking Iraq - we will never know).

My guess is the US's world share declines even though the effort the US does increases just because others start doing more.

That depends on the mission. If it is take pictures and send them back that is easy so long as you can accept some lag - just fly around and record until the jamming stops - which you can handle by flying back. You can also say "if jammed take out any found target within X distance" (where X is the distance to the nearest thing that could be yours) - you might not get the ideal target but hitting a decoy still means the next drone won't make that mistake and you might randomly find something valuable. If there are a group of drones it is possible they can still communicate with each other (close communication is harder to jam) and thus triangulate where the jammer is and then take it out (or one drone fly back to give that information back thus getting a different drone sent to the jammer).

The scifi ideal is the drone just hunts a target on its own and can recognize things never seen before as targets while never accidentally hitting your own things. This is not possible today, but there are a lot of lesser things that are possible and those can be useful.

Of course we don't know what this thing does. It might or might not be anything useful. Only time will tell - though you might be dead before the information needed to know is declassified.

Unless you can buy them out assume dump trucks in your backyard. I'd refuse to buy with those terms. Worse than a hoa.

A strawman invented by Marx to tear down. It is slightly related to what people do in the real world, but it is simplified in ways to make the real world seem evil.

China has an interesting legal situation since they are a mix of communist and capitalist. Depending on the relationship of the company with the government they can get away with a lot of things that would be illegal for others.
