to me, it seems like a good thing if lots of people refuse to cooperate, refuse to be made instruments of this regime. enough people refuse and the regime is disempowered.

maybe, i'm not sure. but those stats up there suggest maybe they are not willing to sacrifice themselves after all. i hope we can help them understand that society doesn't have to be a zero-sum game, which is what i think many of them have believed.

please don't. this is the second time i have seen this today. yes, i know it is /s, but it's still reinforcing an association with the potential to hurt people.

lately i have been thinking about the notion that one way to fight fascism is not to use their language. every day i read comments on lemmy that are intended to mock fascists by repeating their narratives, and i fear they are only feeding it.

didn't we learn anything from the fact that internet shit-posting played a part in putting fucking 47 into power in the us?

where i live, voting is not necessarily easy or convenient for folks relying on public transport. that much harder if they are, say, a working single parent living below the poverty level. and my work involves talking to people like this every day - there are millions like them.
