I was running arch for a while but recently gave fedora a try and even the "bloated" default install with GNOME runs pretty smooth on what's now a close to a decade old machine.

if you want to use really old 32bit hardware then you are going to have to look at another distribution or the unofficial 32bit version of arch
Maybe OP means that their ISP is throttling certain websites like netflix or youtube.
AFAIK If you use a vpn your ISP would no longer be able to see what domains you are connecting to and hence not be able to throttle based on what site you are visiting
I love Celeste too, but it is certainly quite a tough game, I couldn't finish it and I took a break that was too long and now I'm gonna have to start over because all the muscle memory is gone :(
Even if Firefox is a teeny bit slower I am willing to make that sacrifice to support it over chromium.
At most you are saving a minuscule amount of time
