The thing about Batman that you need to remember is that he's been around since the 1930s. Many facets of the character have been explored, including this one. Bruce Wayne has, on multiple occasions, argued for and created social programs for the poor. That is something he has done in many comics.

That said, he hasn't argued for higher taxation on the rich. There's a few reasons for this, the chief among them being the unquestioned omnipresent capitalist dogma that informs a lot of media. Though I'd add that the idea of wealth redistribution is kind of incompatible with the idea of Batman. He's a deeply psychologically motivated character. His war on crime is largely personal. As his vigilantism is enabled by his wealth, it makes sense that he would favour philanthropy. He wants to be the agent of change in 'his' city. Broadly speaking, that might make him ineffective but I don't think it makes him bad. I think it's part of what makes him an interesting character.

Absolutely. So much of the libertarian argument for capitalist competition fall apart when faced with the reality of monopolies and oligopolies that control the markets. It's honestly such a farcical ideology.

There was a 19th century political party that rose in opposition to the arrival of Irish Catholic immigrants. They had the audacity to call themselves the Native American Party. Also, known as the Know Nothings. They're the gang that Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day Lewis) leads in Gangs of New York.

I honestly never knew this. Thanks for sharing!

I don't like using reddit. But sometimes I have to while looking something up. However, I get this message when I have Mullvad turned on that reads You've been blocked by network security.

How do I bypass this? Changing VPN locations doesn't seem to affect it. I don't want to turn my VPN off for reddit.

Has anyone here ever come across a low res tutorial video with microsmic font that is impossible to read? I appreciate their desire to help others but why do people do that?

From my understanding, dental records are not actually as full-proof as they come of as in the media and there was a great deal of pseudoscience in their popularisation as a tool for identifying people. So perhaps, if the fingerprints are still identifiable, forensics went with them since they are more reliable.

Why does Trump dislike Pompeo again? It's hard to keep track of all the people who have worked with Trump and subsequently publicly bashed him for bein a terrible human being.

Read this in Swedish Chef's voice.

I'm currently working on a project in C where I have a choice between using a library for hash tables or simply creating my own hash table from scratch.

What would look better on a Github portfolio from an employability perspective?

I'm looking at getting started in cybersecurity. I'm hoping to pass the CompTIA Security+ this month. Are there any projects that I could work on to improve my résumé?

I currently have a load of pirated games and I'm considering moving my systems to Linux cuz Windows is ass. Would this make it difficult to run pirated games?

What software have you found particularly frustrating or difficult to configure on Linux?

I've noticed a general sentiment that printing on Linux is (or at least was) extremely cumbersome and difficult. Why is that?

Looking for a good app launcher for Linux. Currently looking for something for Arch and I see there's a lot of options liks rofi and wofi. What are your favourite app launchers and why?

I'm sure there are orgs that audit FOSS code for security and privacy. Could you guys let me know what some of the main orgs that do this? Do you have any ones you like in particular.

I see a lot of options on Fdroid. Which one do you guys like the most?

Looking for a good FOSS Matrix clisnt. What's your favourite and why?

What do you guys think? I don't think there's a lot of depth to the arguments, myself. It reads more like an threadbare op-ed with a provocative title. But I'd like to hear you opinions on the impact of automated testing solutions on the role of pen-testers in the industry.
