That Google exec's comments along with the Apple showcase of Apollo must have reddit leadership shitting their pants.

So much for the protest having "no effect".

Ducks fly together! Brave search is pretty decent too, if you haven't tried it yet.

he's managed to lose money, burn bridges, and fuck up the whole deal all for thppe sake of chasing a few dollars of API revenue

Let's call this what it actually was though, there was no attempt at making money from the API. This was entirely to shut down 3rd party apps. Smart AI companies will just scrape reddit. The only people affected by this are 3rd party app developers and users.

This is even more amazingly incompetent. There are a near infinite other ways they could have handled 3rd party apps not showing ads, but they instead chose the brute force method that makes no one happy.

Reddit is incompetence. That is their lifeblood.

How else would anyone read this statement?

Oh the irony of AskMen complaining about hatred

Calling it irony is absolutely insinuating that AskMen is hateful.

That said, I'm happy to be shown I'm wrong. How did you intend for this comment to be interpreted?

Reddit but not run by donkeys, is how I’ve been explaining it.

You are thinking about incel forums. r/AskMen is not that, at all.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 years ago (9 children)

Is your point that r/askMen is a hate subreddit? Do you think men shouldn't have a place to talk about men only things?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Yep! I left a while ago and moved to Tidal. I've been relatively happy with it so far.

Agreed. An application that must be human reviewed is a very large gate that many people will see and just close the site. Myself included.

I've used this tool. It deleted my history.

I then checked by googling "reddit {username}" and found a bunch of comments that were restored.

Reddit is playing games.

While it is certainly sad the direction that reddit is going, there is just a little bit of joy in watching the public meltdown after all the user hostile decisions they've made over the past few years.

There is not one single new feature added to reddit since before the redesign that has actually added value to the platform for a user.
