6 games left. Need 3 wins against New York and Tampa. LFG.

[–] imasnyper 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

"Because of the Jays win [yesterday], combined with Seattle and Houston’s losses, Jays just need to get to 90 wins to clinch a postseason berth, so our Magic Number is 3. Because of Seattle’s remaining games against Houston and Texas, it is possible that Seattle could go 90-72 while Houston goes 89-73. In this instance the Jays would clinch with 89 wins due to holding a tiebreaker over Houston. However, it’s also possible for Houston to go 90-72 while Seattle goes 89-73. In this instance the Jays would not make the playoffs due to Seattle holding the tiebreaker.

That is why, as of right now, 90 wins guarantees Toronto a postseason berth" - BlueJays MagicNumber

Huge day today. SPRINGER! Bo, Vlad, Varsho. Bullpen came up huge to hold it down. Let's go sweep some Yankees at home now.

[–] imasnyper 2 points 2 years ago

Huge inning for us. Need some shutdown out of the bullpen now to keep us in it.

[–] imasnyper 2 points 2 years ago

Huge win, lets go!!

[–] imasnyper 2 points 2 years ago

The good news for the next 3 days is that the Mariners are playing the Rangers, so we can let them beat up on each other while we're playing the Rays. 2 wins this weekend would be amazing. 1 win is a must I think to keep up with the pack.

[–] imasnyper 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

For the first time since the bot was implemented, we're actually playing them, so obligatory fuck the Yankees! Hopefully the bright lights in New York can wake the bats up once and for all.

[–] imasnyper 31 points 2 years ago (4 children)

You would call them women. We literally have a word for female humans.

[–] imasnyper 1 points 2 years ago

Also fuck the MLB schedule makers for this bullshit way to end the season. Meanwhile the Yankees play the Diamondbacks and the Royals, and the Rays play the Angels and the Red Sox (with an extra day off we don't have) in between their series with us. I'm sure at some point in the season, we had similarly light schedules while they were playing tough opponents, but it still seems like a harsh way to end the season for us.

[–] imasnyper 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Somehow we've managed to weather the storm and we're back in possession of the second wildcard spot. Extremely tough way to finish the year now though with back to back series against the Yankees and Rays. The Yankees will be trying to play spoiler against us. The Rays are the Rays, and will be the ultimate litmus test for potential playoff series'. This is going to be 2 very stressful weeks.

[–] imasnyper 3 points 2 years ago

Sure why not add some more stress.

Ugly win last night, and somehow back in a wildcard spot. Just keep winning.

Apologies to anyone who's been browsing the site overnight. I decided to update my bot and then go to bed, which seemed like a really good idea at the time. It was not a good idea. The bot decided it was a good idea to post a new Off Day thread every 10 minutes after midnight, until mercifully at 2am the cron job stops running. Thanks to @[email protected] for messaging me to try to stop the madness.

I should have the problems with the game day bot figured out at this point, so until I break more things, we should see at most one thread per day, either a Game Day thread or an Off Day thread. I have plans to continue expanding the Game Day bot to update the thread during games with the linescore, boxsore, and a list of links to game-highlight videos to bring the features more inline with the features the bot the reddit mods were using.

The standings in the sidebar is now run by bot as well. Going forward it will just be updating once a day at 8am (today 10:40am because of the issues overnight), although I may change this to update again at 5pm, 11pm and 2am to get the changes after afternoon games and the east/west coast evening games respectively finish.

I am also going to work on the obligatory Fuck the Yankees bot today, which shouldn't take too much work to get going, so please everyone, say it with me. Fuck the Yankees.

If anyone has any more ideas for feature bots please feel free to share them. No guarantees I will be able to implement all suggestions at all, and the timeline will be long for most things as well - I'm a decent programmer, but I'm slow and also learning Go Lang as I go through this process.

Finally thanks to all the subscribers here, we're now up to 170 which is absolutely insane to me! Lets go Jays!
