Thanks, this was a great answer. I really enjoyed reading it. I was dead serious about wondering about how you all got to where you are. It wasn't just a glib statement. I'll look into those books, thanks.

I worked at a semi-prominent investment firm and getting in with the sovereign wealth funds was their end-game, too. They were chomping at the bit to cozy up to the Saudis. I believe the Pandora Papers thoroughly confirmed how fucked we've been for a long time, but nobody has come close to doing them justice, and possibly never will. That's the whole point of offshore accounts in countries built to shelter rich people--the secrets are well-guarded, by design.

My favorite from those times was Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I'll never forget the 2 v 2 Spies vs. Mercs. First time I experienced Proximity Chat. The spies could sneak up behind you and once they were near, they could whisper in your ear, so you'd get a lot of, "Hey, baby..." and other funny stuff before your neck was snapped. It was so much fun and I still wish for a replacement.

Agree so hard about low carb. That was my key to finally losing weight (FAST) and keeping it off for years.

But what about jiggly fat? What's the difference?

I'm curious where a lot of those folks come from/what their backgrounds are. I assume like 50% are Russian bots, but of those who are real people, how'd they end up where they are in life/holding those opinions? I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

It's surprisingly sweet, too!

Don't worry, it's just the tip, just for a little bit, just to see how it feels. They'll pull out in time!

How else do you get rid of all of the biased papers?

Besides being a great song, this is a masterclass in live audio mixing. It's significantly better than the album version.

I've long toyed with a mid-life pivot into a different field. Mostly, I lean towards IT as the most practical for me, but I love the idea of finally studying a hard science, which I grew to love, but never really got a good formal education in.

I've heard/read, for example, that there aren't necessarily tons of astrophysics jobs out there, so if you only have a bachelor's degree, you might have a tough time. I don't even know that this is true, but I use it as an example.

What are the hard science fields that would be the opposite of this? I could imagine there might be a lot of Chemistry-related jobs, for example, maybe? But I have a hard time imagining what you could do with a pure Physics degree (without also focusing on Engineering or something supplementary)? Would Biology get you anywhere by itself?

Or is it just the hard truth of all hard sciences that you're pretty much worthless with just a four-year degree, from a job perspective?

If nothing else, skip to ~2:22 for some wizardry.
