The condition, known as alpha-gal syndrome

Knee-jerk reaction: oh come on, a condition where you can’t eat red meat is called alpha gal syndrome. Fucking toxic masculinity at its finest.

After two minutes of research, from a different site:

Alpha-gal is a molecule (galactose-α-1,3-galactose) that is naturally produced in the bodies of most mammals but not in people. It is also found in the saliva (spit) of some ticks.

Oh. Well. I retract my previous indignation, but maintain that it is a very funny coincidence.

No, it isn’t.

That’s exactly why Robert is hesitating. He doesn’t want to make a statement. He just wants an electric, durable, practical truck.

Ok, so this is just a marketing fluff article right? Because the cyber truck is very well documented to only be one of the three things listed there.

I still do not understand how that event didn’t turn the entire world on Musk forever.

I already didn’t like Musk because of the whole “you can’t use safety yellow paint or backup alarms on forklifts in my factories because I don’t like them,” but calling a hero a pedophile because his ego wasn’t the most important thing in the situation was just so outlandishly childish and evil.

I don’t have any mainstream media accounts and I’m pretty happy with that choice.

Although honestly I feel like Lemmy is feeling a lot like second Reddit recently and I’m pretty sad about this. See: dozens and dozens of low effort moth memes on feed now.

That was a wild ride.

  1. Webpages won’t be the primary interface anymore. Traditional browsers were built to load webpages. But increasingly, webpages — apps, articles, and files — will become tool calls with AI chat interfaces. In many ways, chat interfaces are already acting like browsers: they search, read, generate, respond. They interact with APIs, LLMs, databases. And people are spending hours a day in them. If you’re skeptical, call a cousin in high school or college — natural language interfaces, which abstract away the tedium of old computing paradigms, are here to stay.

Owner of web browser says webpages are cooked, I guess.

Wow.

FWIW I have the color and the non-color libra, and if you’re just interested in reading books where color isn’t a huge part of the experience I highly recommend the non-color version. The contrast ratio and legibility are simply far better.

NAD

You’d think people who think a lot about advertising would have picked a different agency name…

I mean, if we’re being technical then “hate speech” isn’t a legal term at all, but I should have made it clearer that I was alleging the republicans were building their usual flimsy-as-shit-case to harass their “enemies”.

Do we have an established practice for requesting defederation?

I would very much like to request that we defederate from burggit.moe (because I would prefer to keep my lemmy experience free of loli porn) and I went looking for the best way to do this, but the best I could come up with was posting to meta and that seems like the wrong place.

I feel like I missed something obvious ¯_(ツ)_/¯
