Switching between "Active" and "Top [1h/6h/12h]" at different times of the day has provided me with enough content & interactions to make Lemmy my new home. I always was a lurker on the old site, no comment nor post, not even an account. Now, I'm slowly trying to break from this habit. Being on Lemmy feels like I'm not shouting in the void; when a platform gets too big, you get lost in the crowd. It's always nice to see recurring usernames on different communities.

Seems like someone is new with Markdown notation haha :-)

You probably tried to write "number 1 [...]" but the hash (#) converted your whole text to a Heading level 1.

I'd say lack of marketing and higher price tags. Money / Performance ratio is also better with a decent Thinkpad.

Some of these options can't (or not without high markups) be bought and shipped to Canada.

Because it use common hardware and bought "en masse" by enterprises; they tend to be more supported with FOSS than other options.

I've been happy with my used T480 so far.

There's KOHO for Canadians, still not a proper Privacy.com replacement but you get two Mastercard cards (one physical & one digital) and they are refillable via Interac payments.

When doing trials, I set a few dollars on the card to ensure if they try to do a 1$ transaction to verify the card and I'm good to go. Even if I forget to cancel, the payment won't pass.

Recently used Porkbun for a .xyz domain for reverse proxy / DNS challenge. Price was about 2-3CAD$ for the first year, renewal at +/-10CAD$/year. My usage is pretty simple, but it's been great so far.

From NH Switch Guide, this guide shows how to do it if you have emuMMC or not.

They also have a Discord channel if you need additional help.

Morally wrong... Boy, that's a bad take. A recent study by the Video Game History Foundation has shown that 87% of games are not available meaning they can't be bought legally from the copyrights holders (used/resales doesn't profit the corporations).

[Source]

E.g most NES/SNES games are not available legally on Nintendo own service. Should these pieces of art be lost to time? (because yes, I do think they should be considered an art medium) No, that's why emulation/piracy is a necessity to ensure games preservation.

Wow, why go into such length. Seems like I struck a sensible cord. Who said I'm breaking the law. We are just talking here, nothing is happening. Some content is not even available in some part of the world. Not everyone lives in the USA.

They owe you nothing, stop sucking corporations balls. You won't be compensated for your "efforts".

Bought a second drive to run Linux on my gaming PC. It's been a month and I haven't had the need to boot into Windows yet. I had some initial troubles during installation but it's smooth sailing since. After owning the Steam Deck for 1+ year and already running Linux on my laptop, it was the last step towards ditching Windows entirely.
