My parent’s neighborhood had a home that over decorated like this, but for Halloween. The town did something similar. Somehow classifying what they were doing as an event, requiring them to get a permit and “event” insurance.
Prior to this on Halloween during trick or treating hours, the volunteer emergency services dept. (bouncers for town events) would close off the street because of all the people, mostly kids everywhere. Which turned into a problem, the over decorators lived on a well traveled route that went in and out of the subdivision.
If you were driving an emergency vehicle, you probably would have no idea this was going on unless you lived in the subdivision.
And they had the charity angle too, but I don’t think they had any idea what the true cost of putting on the show was. Mostly because they weren’t paying for it.
I had the Soap shoes. Never grinded anything with rollerblades, barely able to use a skateboard, but thought the shoes would be the trick. Took them out for their maiden voyage to the auto show.
I saw my opportunity to grind on a nice set of shiny steps that went up to a fancy car. The second I hit the “grind” they stick and I go flying to the floor. I’ve never made so many people stop what they were doing.
The look on all these people faces were nothing short of “what is wrong with you?”
Side note I have a pair of adult size Heelys, they’re a bit impractical to use as actual shoes cuz you need a tool to remove the wheels, if I remember correctly the kid’s sizes the wheel mechanism popped in and out of the sole.
