There's a lot of smug "well actually" commenters in this thread, who have completely missed that the meme is making a rhetorical point about the nature of rent-seeking rather than sincerely advocating for the sudden disappearance of all landlords.

It never ceases to amaze me how often I still learn about how much stuff is illegal in the US. All I ever heard growing up was how it's the freedomest country in the world and that the entire concept of its government was built on personal freedoms, and yet it doesn't even seem to be true on its own terms.

My LinkedIn feed is now full of Suggested posts from people with things like "Vibe Coding guru" in their strapline posting bullshit tracts about how Vibe Coding Isn't What You All Think. I keep blocking them but LinkedIn keeps suggesting them.

This is true, and yet somehow when I buy the "XL" sized cartridges they don't feel like they lasted much longer than the "S" size that came with it.

This would be all very well and good in principle, except that this assumption has now already been factored into mainstream Republican strategy. It's now an everyday occurrence for them to say something absolutely outrageous based on the expectation that the "compromise" will be struck exactly where they want things to be.

Bunch of wealthy Americans trying to heavensmax whilst ignoring the parts about giving all your money to the poor or not being a colossal dick, is why we so frequently hear them indulging in these insane persecution complexes, as though they think they can trick God.
