It honestly depends. There are random drive by scrapers that will just do what they can, usually within a specific budget for a domain and move on. If you have something specific though that someone wants you end up in an arms race pretty quickly as they will pay attention and tune their crawler daily.

Honestly none of them strike me as true adherents. They just go whichever direction looks like it will give them more power or money. If there is a next administration or some BLM like cause comes back in vogue you'll see them out there preaching to that choir as if they had always supported that cause.

PGBouncer is more of a connection pooler than a proxy.
Outside of the k8s ecosystem patroni with haproxy is probably a better option.
Pgbouncer is still good practice though because PG just can't handle a high number of connections.

The main issue, which I find with conservative voters a lot, is that unless they are obviously and directly impacted by something they will never notice or link actions and consequences.
It rolling off the dash is the least of people's problems. Depending on the location it might just get launched into your face at 100 miles an hour by an airbag deploying.
Whenever I see people with their feet up on the dash I know they have never seen a person after an air bag has hit them .
They will not at all make this connection.
