“Old Man Yells at Cloud” vibes

For sure. Plenty of skills/strategy, some luck. If Gabe Davis catches that one pass and scores and Bills win, media is on them as an title contender and Allen for MVP. It deflects off his hands right to a defender and they lose at the buzzer and now Allen is a disaster and they fire the coordinator.

This is cool. As much as people want to pretend there’s no luck involved, there is plenty. If this was meant to be predictive, I’d add red zone and longer fourth downs to this. Not that red zone is “luck”, but it is completely random year to year.

You forgot “smashing-with-helmet” and “lying-about-racism”

Pittsburgh. The bridges and rivers look nice.

I meant that they’d had plenty of time before the penultimate play to discuss

Blame McDermott. He had a timeout to talk it over and get it set. It was obvious that the Broncos might do another quick change.

Anyone else think Watson bounced that against the ground?

This is all a distraction. The NFL WANTS us to complain about and blame reffing so we don’t notice why the games actually suck and seem so random: The coaching and players suck. We’ve got Tommy Devito and Clay Tune starting games. The Jets are one QB shy of being a contender, but their dick owner is buddies with Zach Wilson’s family so I guess flush the season down the toilet. Tua just takes fourth down sacks when they’re losing to preserve his stats, and he’s still going to get MVP votes. Someone recently hired Josh fucken McDaniels as a head coach. Texans let a chaplain run their team for a while. How many fourth down and clock management blunders have there been? This is absolute malpractice that a company so large can be run by such buffoons.

Plenty of HC hirings look awful in hindsight, but at least there was a reason (even if it was a bad one, like “he knows Bill Belichick!”) for the hiring you could understand.

But the Greg Schiano hire in Tampa was egregious. It’s unlikely enough a college coach succeeds in the pros, but to hire a guy who was in a mediocre, mid-major program and not particularly innovative or creative with his gameplans? Without exaggeration, it would be like if Luke Fickell or Jamey Chadwell got an NFL head coaching job this winter.
