i’m hoping that the cultural differences and historical animosities between the anglosphere hegemony and latin america are enough to stymie the same conservative influence that has befallen most of europe & north america so far;

Straight cisgender non(?)-neurotypical from Latin America here. I'm afraid to tell you that the conservative influence is already here, since our elites (which matters in our political and economical system) are nothing but american puppets. Not so long ago Bolsonaro was president here in Brazil and I wouldn't count that we're free from him or his thugs. Argentina has already fallen. Chile might be the next on queue.

Where I would go in your situation: 1) Mexico (though I wouldn't be surprised if the irritating orange militarly intervened in the country); 2) Uruguay (safe and stable, but no one knows about tomorrow); 3) Costa Rica and Panama (though Panama might be the target of an invasion too); 4) Colombia (might be at risk in the near future); 5) Cuba (yes, Cuba). Brazil and Chile are OK but at risk. I'd avoid the rest.

However, the thing to consider is that now fascism is internationalist. We've come to a historical moment where these guys are no longer country-bound and are able to cooperate in order to grab power in their hands, regardless of which side of the border they are. Sure, they will try to kill each other, but not after they get rid of the undesirable. Moving to a safer country will give you about 5 years of peace, and then what? If that country falls to a fascist crony, where will you go? Will it even be do-able living a life where you'll have to move abroad at the slightest risk?

Look, political activism, most specifically that of the radical nature (I'm not even talking about revolutionary action) is something that, of course, is not for everyone. People have to have the health to take it every single day. As for myself, the option for me for sure wasn't moving. Political action is all that is left (pun intended). But that's me.

That's just some food for thought I'm giving you and OP, though. Whichever you people choose, try to do it with peace of mind as your ultimate goal.

the heck is causing this? highly competitive society? bullying running free on japanese schools? lack of support by school personnel and overworked parents?

According to the IDF, Avitan, who approached Israeli troops and did not respond to calls to stop, was unarmed and dressed in civilian clothing, making it unclear why he was shot.

Pretty sure he was killed because he was in plainclothes and unarmed.

she wouldn't have the need for a self driving car if worked less hours, lived closed to her job and used public transportation to go to work (in case her job couldn't be home office'd).

the thing is that this is essentially a capitalist and american problem.

watching the birth of my kids were the best moments in my life, the worst was (so far) when i divorced. i realized that there's life after the divorce, but i'm their parent forever. the best moments so far outweights the worst by a large margin.

this. i mean, the session logs for the prompt are kept at least for your user, right?

so essentially the f-35 is a big winged alfa romeo: the best fighter jet in the world, when it works.

so he's just admitting that deepseek did a better job than openai but for a fraction of the price? it only gets better.

and that's what superpowers do, but living in a third world country i'm yet to see the chinese putsch us as the u.s. did during the cold war and beyond, with all due consequences. sorry about my lack of goodwill towards the department of state.

You find someone interesting on Instagram (or Tinder/happn/Bumble if they left their IG handle there), though their profile is restricted. You add that person, which accepts you, sometimes after two or three months. You leave a private message to that person, thanking it for accepting you as a follower, and asking if it wants to talk. Then, silence. Or worse yet, exchanges a few phrases and then ghosts you out of nowhere, without explanation or if you didn't said anything rude.

I mean, no one owes anyone anything in a situation like that, of course, but why bother opening a pathway in the first place, instead of just refusing? And if you find that other not really interesting after some conversation, though not really creepy or weird or over-the-top, why not be polite and say "look, this is not going to work, I don't want to talk to you anymore" or "this thing you said is a red flag for me, bye, take care"?

What bothers me is like, don't we talk anymore like normal people are supposed to? Have personal connections become so disposable like that? Or am I just freaking out and perhaps just need to find out somewhere in the real world where I could bond more easily with real people?

Pretty straightforward: what tips and advice would you give me if I were to start an open source project of a game? Where to share my intention of beginning this project, where to find contributors, how to organize the workflow etc.

~~Pretty straightforward: where does the awareness that porn wrecks your mind and sexuality stops and where does simply conservatism towards sexuality begins (even in cases akin to bolshe morality)?~~

EDIT: okay, better clarifying it - i came across some video from some youtuber claiming that pornography is evil, period. and that there are things such as "metapornography", which could apply to someone in instagram posting videos of themselves in scant dressing and claiming likes of it. and that no-fap and anti-masturbation movements are good things.

i was really confused about that since that person came from apparently a progressive-yet-moralistic background. but talking to other people to see if some of my impressions checked, it came to my mind that it was a heavily directed video intended to attract left-leaning people to a conservative agenda. my bad.

I'm in the course of pursuing a change in my career towards software engineering/architecture. So far I've been brought mostly to C#/.NET and Java, though Java attracts me more, even considering that it might be a "dying" language. Still, Scala and Clojure are there, so I thought that they might give a pump at least to JVMs. In your opinion, should I invest in pursuing certifications/jobs in this field, or sticking to C#/.NET is a better path?

New language promises to reduce compilation times by using all threads and gpu cores available on your machine. What's your opinions on it so far?

Right, so this is the situation: I still haven't obtained my license here in Brazil, but I already have a Baofeng DR-1801 HT that can connect to dmr networks. Therefore I haven't transmitted yet. But I'd like to clarify some doubts:

  • When I get my license, even in C-class in Brazil, I will be allowed access to some frequencies in 40-10m bands. Should I get a low power QRP transceiver (e.g. uSDX) or go for an used rig from known brands?
  • It's almost impossible to find a transceiver project with a power rating greater than 10w. What would be the difficulty of, say, copylefting the schematics of an ft-7b?
  • Can I really use a wire thrown over my house (of course, with baluns and stuff) as a monopole antenna or that's just myth?
