I use YouTube in dark mode quite a while now and this was not an issue, until recently. For whatever reason the text for the comment I am writing is in black now, rather than white. Does anyone know why that is? Surely I can find some workaround by forcing the color for the domain, but it would be nicer to know the actual reason and fix the problem.

Does anyone have this issue were firefox becomes slow if left open for a long time. In my case after a couple of weeks rendering becomes slow and when I use youtube for example if is laggy, just trying to change volume taka few second to show the volume bar. It also happens to my laptop at work. I have around 30 tabs open.

Hey all,

i was wondering, how you are managing websites which clearly state they need chrome. Most of the time, switching the user agent works fine, but sometimes it does not. Implying you need to use them. Is there something like a wall of shame for said websites? I gladly report them.

Thank you!

FF as the default browser. is it possible to set such that when I open links on other apps, firefox launches a private window for those links?

there seems a similar option but it has a side effect, FF normal launch also becomes private (incognito).

When I enable this, it redirects to piokok.com/profile/profile/wildcard. I'm not sure how the second profile is added and thus how to prevent it.

For instance, you can go to chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml in a browser tab to see the bookmarks and history manager. That link opens the bookmarks, I wonder if there's a URL that opens the history manager directly instead.

I was going to post one myself but searched and found this one.

It would be very very handy to have a simple search bar at the top of the extension dropdown menu, because over time people add a lof of different extensions to their firefox and it becomes very very very tedious to always manually search for the one that I need right now.

So just a simple searchbar at the top that filters extension in the dropdown menu by name would be awesome to have, so that I can quickly find and access its specific extension window.

Also make it so that the search bar is instantly focused when the extension menu pops up, so that the user can immediately start typing and the filtering begins. Then the user can just press enter to launch the extension window of the first element in the list. This would allow for a easy mouse-free keyboard-only navigation.

And before somebody asks: I do not want pin every extension to the toolbar just to quickly access it, it would like to hide away most of them in the dropdown menu instead, so this is not a viable option.

I'm not one to usually diss new UI changes, but this one grinds my gears.

Firefox for Android has released a new menu design. It organizes everything a little differently, which is alright it looks fresh. But 2 things are really annoying and a continuous design trend in Firefox.

  • The option to open page in external app has been tucked away in a sub menu. I used this often and it was in the top level menu before. Companies just love hiding things in menus for no reason.
  • the option to open a private tab as a normal tab is GONE. This is how I use Firefox: someone sends me a link, I click on it and it opens in a private tab by default. If I need to sign in to see it (e.g. private Instagram links) then I open it in a normal tab. This option is now simply gone.

So yeah that's my rant. I'll see if I open a bug requesting the 2nd issue back.

I have lots of them and arranging, finding or deleting is tricky sometimes. The search option in bookmarks is cool, but I can't select and edit or delete bookmarks using it.
Currently I sync bookmarks with a pc and then rearrange it and sync back.

How do you do it? Are there any other settings or techniques you use or know of?

Thanks in advance

I dont speak Spanish and would like to just translate websites that I frequent often, can I auto translate them (when the site doesn't ha e the language option or I can't find it).

On an Android device.

Edit: thanks folks, I was actually on the ddg app lol. Mull always did have the auto translate.

If you know how to get it on ddg even better but either way I'll use mull for non English articles.

As Firefox is by far my most used app, I find that bookmarking the current tab and describing the task with no more than a few words or even as little as a few chars, to be a good way to keep track of what things I need to do soon. For things I would get to later or whenever I feel like it, I'll put them in Firefox's "Boookmarks Menu" or "Other Bookmarks" folders, and have lots of folders consisting of Reddit posts and searches about different topics.

Right now is the best period of time yet for Firefox-based browser, especially when most alternative browsers are Chrome-based.

While there are a bunch of forks like Librewolf and Palemoon, they provide features mainly for power users like hardened privacy and tweaked user-prefs. A year ago the only fork I knew of, based on recent stable versions of Firefox and added productivity features on top was Floorp. I was very surprised at the hype and sudden popularity of Zen Browser in the past few months and have been curious why it grew so much faster than Floorp which has been around for much longer, look at the Github star graph: https://star-history.com/#zen-browser%2Fdesktop=&Date=. Zen Browser currently has 19.3K stars while Floorp has 6.1K.

Reasons I can think of are the following: heavy promotion of the browser by the devs and community on places like Reddit along with emphasizing its 'zen' philosophy, really fast development (it now has way more features than Floorp), and the Zen mods store, where you can install CSS mods.

What are your thoughts and reasons for Zen Browser becoming so popular so fast? (while its not mainstream, it did grow fast in among Firefox and power users)
