The oeverexposure is a big factor yes (Pikachu and Charizard are pretty much the official whores of the franchise). Gets more variants than Charizard, and gets variants solely so that it can be shoehorned in context where there's no need for it, such as flying battles. Doesn't help that originally Pikachu was more rotund but in the later seasons of the anime and since around G5 in the games they gave it anime hero body proportions, which also sucks.
Haven't written any Pikachu in my works so far because why would I, I hate it. But if I ever need to have some bit NPC be outright demolished and mauled in a fight, Pikachu is among the top candidates.

From what I've heard from other people who are there, RR is more like multiple cabals of chimpanzees competing for which one looks more aristocratic. Which may be a good thing if you're into that, but since platforms like AO3 already exist why would I ever go to a platform where people can collude to sink me behind my back? Ya know, like in corporate networks?

Pero para suerte mía, vivo como 100 km fuera de la zona que pega estos sistemas frontales, igual llueve su harto pero me salvé. Y cuando veo que en los noticieros ahora se pegan con el "río informático" como nueva muletilla, que nos falta agüita, que nos volvimos flojos con la sequía, que el niño no que la niña etc etc, pues yo me acuerdo de esta escena de una película vieja de Pokémon.
(Parece que el próximo finde las voy a ver negras eso sí)

We had a fivefold long streak of 2020. Some people thought that wwould be over, but nooooo because dramatic irony. Now that the calendar finally rolled out of 2020 it's now 2021, basically a sequel where things are now worse. Figures, it can end up being five "seasons" as well.
