Inure 👌 (play.google.com)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

So... Got a rooted P9PXL and accidentally uninstalled a pretty vital app for file management. (For context: DocumentsUI.. Looks like a file management app for google) So, a few days after I uninstalled it, I noticed I couldn't download attachments from emails.

Thought it was a file association issue, but to no avail. Then I remembered uninstalling DocumentsUI... Did some research and seemed pretty grim to getting it back. However, I uninstalled it with Inure.

I recently got the app before using it to uninstall some system stuff, so I wasn't familiar with its capabilities. It can attempt to reinstall the app, which didn't work. But there is an option to Extract the apk... Tried it, and it definitely gave me a file with a random name. Went to install it, and sure enough, it reinstalled DocumentsUI.

Everything back to normal operations afterward. Inure is not just for this purpose, but man, did it save my ass. Definitely recommend.

I used to use an app Offline Reader for Reddit and wanted a similar thing for lemmy. It lets you load a bunch of selected communities while you have a connection so you can browse them later when you're offline.

I made it for myself, so there hasn't been significant testing. If you do run in to problems with it, let me know.

Hello, does anyone know of a tasks app that will keep sending reminders every x minutes until you check off a task? I have to take a pill at a specific time every day but I am absolutely terrible with reminders and I get constantly distracted. Often I see the notif/alarm but just ignore it or immediately forget about it. I wish there was a way to keep getting alarms until I actually check off that I took the pill.

I could spreadsheet or make something but would like to ask, from searching there doesn't seem to be a program that'll let me list things to try and achieve, note them as done, maybe assign a score to each goal?

After losing a notebook, I thought I'd ask about a new-fangled approach. :) Thank you for reading this and happy new year! :)

Anyone who's installed custom roms on their older Android phones has probably heard of pie navigation. But this is a little post to share my love for it to those people who have never heard about it.

It's something I know from the old Gravitybox xposed module, where you slide from the side or bottom of the screen, and a small half-circle pops up with different pie pieces for the normal Android navigation bar buttons. This saves screen space, and needs less finger movement than all other gesture-based navigation I've tried. For me, it's the most comfortable navigation solution. I also think it looks quite pretty (though you can set the colors and icons and size to your own preference).

It's possible to add pie charts for apps and other stuff, but I've always just used the three for Back, Recent apps and Home. (In the past, there was a fourth little button for "Menu", but that's long since been deprecated.) When I hold the Recent apps button for a bit longer, I go back to my most recent previous app, for some quick multi-tasking.

After Gravitybox no longer really worked, there was an app called LMT, which provided much the same functions. These days, though, LMT also hasn't really seen any meaningful updates for a long time, and the best solution for Pie navigation seems to be this app on the Play store (unfortunately not open-source).

Disabling Android's built-in navigation solutions is needed for it to really work, though, as it replaces the built-in navigation default of just navigating Back. When rooted, your best bet is to just set the normal navigation bar and then using the NavTweaks Magisk module. There's a number of other workarounds I've had to use over the years, but I've always managed to replace the normal navigation style with my beloved pie navigation.

Have you ever used pie navigation and do you miss it? If not, what made you switch to the alternatives?

I really like Feeder, but it doesn't work with FreshRSS. I have been looking for a minimal replacement to view my FreshRSS instance and have had trouble with many of the options having slow sync or UI issues. Capy is looking pretty good! It syncs with FreshRSS extremely quickly. It also has a paned UI for tablets! The app itself is only a few mb in size

the native Android stopwatch widget is 3x2, and even resizing it on a third party launcher, it takes up way more space than it should.

the best I can seem to find out there is 2x2. I figure a 2x1 or even a 1x1 should be easily feasible. I don't give a damn what the rest of the app does (other than showing me ads, of course, or charging me a monthly fee)

If, like me, you've relied on Fennec as a more tolerable version of Firefox for Android, you may have gotten some bad news in the latest F-droid update cycle.

Fennec has fallen so far behind on updates that serious security patches implemented by Mozilla in Firefox haven't been applied to the fork, and Fennec is therefore still breachable.

The developer responded two weeks ago that they were "short on time", and there still isn't a new, secure version available. This appears to be due to that recurring weak link in open source development: small teams, confronted by real life demands like time and money?

I currently use Gboard and unexpected keyboard

It's hard to switch always, I expecting a external app like Samsung have to trigger the modifier like ctrl, alt , win , meta , fn

Also I using text expanders like textexpand, typing hero

Any work around solution is also useful for me

Bonus points if it can be activated automatically for certain sites.

I'm tired to find bloated content everywhere.

I'm looking for something that "a child would find easy to learn", possibly a virtual keyboard with an obvious "start recording" button that does that, recording your keys on the selected Track, then allowing easy playback so you can listen to it.

I have a custom ROM (DivestOS); I don't have access to the Play Store.

The latest version of Honkai: Star Rail is out, but Aurora installs the bundled version of the APK which always throws an error "Not enough storage space to install required resources" (there is enough space).

In the past, I've used APK Mirror to download the standalone version of the APK. But the latest update on APK Mirror only offers the bundled version.

I've tried APK Pure and APK Combo to install an XAPK version, but that always fails too.

So, does anyone know where I might find the standalone version of the app, or how to resolve the bundled app error?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know when I'm going to be going to the store. I sometimes forget that I have a list on my phone, too.

is there an app that can have a reminder go off when I reach the store?

I am having some trouble in picking one of the habit trackers available on F-Droid/Izzy-on-droid. Which one would you recommend or maybe you know another good free/libre one (from other repos or sources in general)?

The ones in my scope thus far are:

TimePlanner has also caught my eye but it seems to be quite a bit more than a simple habit tracker

I am trying to find this application that's in fdroid (repo on github) but I am unable to find it again. It's an application designed to help bring the music finder feature from android 12+ to older versions. Android compute core.

shazam foss alternative built into AOSP

Just something I like that Android has, no Google from what I've read back when I got my pixel. The music that my phone detects doesn't get sent to google. Anyways, I can't find app, and the icon is literally the same as the official one from what AOSP has.

I just need one that can add up few items for eg. daily expenses etc. And should pop-up keyboard automatically as soon as I touch a cell.

No need for complex formula support or fancy graphics. Single sheet is also OK.

Edit: I am looking for something like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.thinctank.cellcalc

This one doesn't popup keyboard so needs two touches to enter data. And I do not know how to access stored data!

Update! Newpipe is working again after an uninstall and reinstall just now!

--

I've been using newpipe for 3 years and it's never failed completely like this.

It's been a few days now that zero videos work and newpipe hasn't released an update or anything on their blog.

Cleared cache. Uninstalled reinstalled, reset phone, no difference.

Is new pipe still working for other people? I have an uninstalled reinstalled

Hi all,

I’ve recently moved to pixel/graphene and I’m looking for a more open replacement for spotify.

I installed a bunch from F-droid to test (newpipe, pipepipe, libretube, RiMusic, SpMp, SimpmMusic, InnertTune, ViMusic, etc)

I'm testing them all but I'm a bit overwhelmed with choice.

I've heard of 'cracked spotify' apks but not sure what the deal is with those or how trusted they are

I’d like to find something that lets me control the music from my desktop, either through KDE connect or a standalone app. FOSS / F-droid preferred.

I plan to start maintaining my library locally but I still need some kind of streaming solution.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Something to disable image loading when not on Wi-Fi, for instance? Reddit is Fun had that option, and I have very limited data so that really helped me out.

it's not open source, hasn't been updated for years (though the developer did update all the dictionaries for Android 14 recently) but its customization options just can't be beat.

I use swipe left and right for delete and space and auto-correct with a dictionary I've been adding to for years. It allows you to add custom emoticons and words, it has a тяαทรƒ๑я๓ functions to add ⓥⓐⓡⓘⓞⓤⓢ GIᙏᘻIᑥKS to text... It has an option for swiping, too, though that's instead of the swiping for backspace and space. You can also edit which letters have what symbols above it.

Here's what my keyboard looks like. Notice the handy copy, paste, home, end, undo and redo buttons, too. Which are also completely customizable. Haven't found anything that truly does everything Multiling O does.

I do wish it was open-sourced though, if only so others could update it again...

Hi. Decided to create this list of questions because every time I though I was ready for interviews I was not and sometimes failed to answer even the simplest questions.

Contributions are welcome!

Just found my new keyboard! (keyboard.futo.org)
submitted 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I came across this purely by accident, but it checks pretty much all of my boxes for a good keyboard:

✅ It is simple, beautiful, and customizable. (I like to use AMOLED black, and increase the height a bit)

✅ It has built in offline voice typing. I had been using sayboard for this which was not bad, but so far this is a little quicker and more accurate.

✅ It has easy to use settings (I used ASK for years despite the mess of the settings)

✅ ~~It's FOSS~~. Edit: Apparently, it's currently under a development license that limits certain types of use. The source code is open, and the stated intent is to make it fully FOSS when it is completed.

✅ It has swipe typing. I was using heliboard with a gesture typing library added, but it'snice to have it built in.

It has some interesting features like using an adjustable LLM for text prediction. It will be really interesting to see how it shapes out.

Is there an app that offers good quality translation offline? I usually use TranslateYou which is a fantastic frontend for various services. When I'm traveling, I don't always have a network connection when I want a translation.

Edit: The answer to this is RTranslator. The latest update that transformed it into the most powerful translator I've ever used came a couple days ago.
