Dear Lemmings, who said we can't have silly trends like the others ?
I created a game, it's the FEDIRING !

To play you must follow the links I started at the bottom of this post, until there are none left, and then comment with a new link to a post you picked from any existing lemmy community, using "FEDIRING" as the text of your link.
Below that post you link, someone else will then comment with a "FEDIRING" link to another post from another Lemmy community, and so on...

This is how it should look :

In this example (pix above), the comment contains the word FEDIRING which should lead to an existing post in another Lemmy community (not a post you created).

The rules are simple :

1. Only comment the last post of the ring. Don't comment on a post link that already has a "FEDIRING" comment, you need to follow the link if you find one.
2. You can only play once (this means only one comment from you in the ring)
3. We must reach a new Lemmy community each time. You can link to other instances if you want. Use that as a way to tour lemmy.
4. (OPTIONAL) Comment here to let us know if you played !

I'm being somewhat serious.

We already have half a cult, since like a bunch of users on the fedi are the 1% of tech, and of that group, the 1% of privacy. Let alone talking about how fedizens are like the 5% income wise. Like occasionally a user comes in and says they're ~~Muslim~~ on Facebook and ~~Christians~~ fedizens spring out of the wood work telling them that fb bad.

The rightwingers grow entire movements by having Trump replace god (ex calling him god emperor Trump). Also Q, antivax stuff, manosphere, Bitcoin sphere.

I have a feeling this also explains part of trends such as who uses what software and fashion trends. Which is network effect in depth really.

But spontaneous synchronization also explains where counter culture movements come from. Kinda like heart attacks, a different section of society pulsing in a different beat.

Not sure if this info is useable for better adoption of fediverse tech?

At very least it presents a problem for FedExpansism on Reddit. We convince 1 Redditor to join and then they leave Reddit. But we need them to stay on Reddit so we're not just 1 Firefly in the dark. 1 Firefly will only convince the extremist fireflies, but 1000 fireflies will be able to convince normies.

Prob useable for protest organization, since it directly applied to firefly synchronization

Ex findasubreddit, but on lemmy. So instead of posting to like r/findasubreddit, one posts to c/findasubreddit and uses that to find a subreddit.

Since, imo, esp for niche topics, the lemmyverse isn't big enough to stand on it's own. But the lemmyverse could still reduce the number of posts to say reddit.

Prob possible to use it for like other platforms, like follow for follow instagram hashtags.

As mentioned in the previous post, Make Something month is going to be a little event where you can participate by making something! If you would like to participate, then feel free to post in this thread what you hope to accomplish this month. Also, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas for the event, feel free to post those too!

There will be posts like this every Saturday throughout October for people to give updates on how their project are going. Then, to give people time to be able to figure out how to display their projects and add finishing touches, there will be a showcase thread on November 5th.

Basically c/chat + c/gaming. Anything that increases socializing is good especially considering loneliness is on the rise in modern times.

The Lemmyverse chess event just ended https://lemmy.ca/post/292674 which is the most collaborative fedi gaming thing I've heard of.

Lemmygrad might have a video gaming together thing too.

I learnt a lot of stuff about running an e-tournament. Biggest factor is needing a lot of substitutes for when people drop out. Which would make the results weird, because say wintermute drops out and I sub in for him, then i'd lose the finals.

The activity of the SocialHub community, like all other 'fediverse-substrate' bodies, has waned. From an active community to just a forum. Now a decision has to be made for the future of SocialHub. The options are stopping, be just a forum, or revitalize a vibrant community. The last option needs people willing and committed to do so. To step up for the sake of Fediverse Futures.

I went to a bar last week and saw this total fediette. I immediately fedied a little in my pants and decided to put my fedi where my mouth is. I went up and sat my fediussy on the stool next to her, and asked her if I knew her. Nah, you're too pretty. I'd remember your face. Misskey to remember, funkwhake to forget. She was instantly feding out her panties at the mere thought of feding out with me. Then some anti-fedier jerkop came up and said "Are you fucking quoting the fediverse (2022) to pick up girls?" I fedipanicked. I said "I...ill follow you on diaspora?" and he started #fediblocking me. I fedied the hell out and fedied all over that guy and am now in federated prison for "fediMurder". Don't those fedidetectives know it was a fediverse reference? All in all, follow me on pixelfed?
