I have a 7.2.4 system in my theater room. I have an older PIONEER Elite SC-LX701that only supports 9.2, so I need an extra amplifier to run the surround rears.

Does it matter what amplifier I use? I bought a cheap Fosi Audio BT20A Bluetooth 5.0 Stereo Audio 2 Channel Amplifier Receiver to power those 2 surround rears. Would I be able to tell a difference if I replace that with a more expensive amplifier like a Sony STRDH190?

Just wondering why some people have an expensive AV receiver that can power all the speakers, but then still use an expensive amplifier on top of that. I am a complete newbie with audio equipment.

I have a set of Elipson Legacy 3210's for sale on Canuck Audio Mart and someone has expressed interest in trading for their Audio Physics Scorpio 2. Out of curiosity how would the Audio Physics hold up? I've never heard of them but they seem well reviewed. I'll probably do some shuffling around with my two systems and replace my Focal Chorus 836v just to see the difference.

Opinions?

Hey folks. My old Monitor Audio RSW-12 subwoofer is, alas, not long for this world. There is huge electrical hum, and seems that the caps are gone/going. Apparently a pretty well known problem.

I wish to remedy this situation, but unsure how to proceed.

  1. I could get a spare board from MA for GBP 300+. That would be simple.
  2. I could also get a 3rd party plate amp or stand alone amp, and use the driver and case.
  3. I could get a new sub, possibly even 15", but no idea what would be good.
  4. I could build a DIY one, again possibly 15", but I have never built a speaker in my life, though not frightened to try - but I have no idea how to tune it, baffles, what size ports to use, where to place them etc.

My room is 5m wide x 2.8m high, and 8.7m deep, but the viewing/listening position is <4m from the wall (so I consider it open backed if you get my meaning), leaving ~5m behind the viewer.

Any advice, hints, links appreciated. I'm EU based (poland), so please consider that. Ideally like to keep it under 1000 euros, but I'm weak of will and can easily be persuaded for a new shiny thing.

This is for a home cinema set up in 5.1, rest are monitor Audio Silver RX.

Cheers!

Ive just redone Dirac, I had the sub level a little high and no room to lower the level, while doing Dirac and uploading the filters my Internet dropped out and I had to reset the Avr! I have just rerun Dirac and the screen on my Avr is saying "Dirac Measurement" Is it finished and I can just close down Dirac on my laptop? Worried about having to reset it again.

I really love how LS60 look, is it wise to have the LS60 as the LR in any 3.1 5.1 systems as they are active speakers? Cause I would really love to stream music with them while not needing to buy different sets for home theater purpose. Any model setup recommended? Thanks !

Hi everyone, I'm choosing TV for my living room. Distance to TV is around 2.5 meters.

The living room is sunny, all the day sun shining. TV stands near the wall where sun lights shine on sunset (less light). And light can be reduced by curtains.

I am not a gamer at all, so TV for movies and cartoons for a kid. Cartoons daytime, movies evening - nighttime.

My options are: LG CX 55 vs TCL QM8 vs Hisense U7K all 55 inches.

Please help me to choose. Old OLED or the very new mini led. Or maybe another option?

There are also nice smaller TVs, but I think 55 is a minimum to go for that distance.

I ordered a Denon AVR-S970H from Germany, but the power cord that came with it is type F, which is not compatible with the type G sockets in Bahrain. I wanted to replace the power cord when I got the AVR, but I can’t find one with the same specifications of 16A 26V. Is it safe to use a power cord with lower ratings like 13A or 10A? Also, the ones I found have three prongs, not two like the original one.

As the title says, the subwoofer, after a span of seconds, starts popping, but does not produce a crackling sound yet. What could be the root cause for this? The subwoofer is almost a decade old so is it a matter of the subwoofer aging?

Looking for recommendations for HDMI splitter. I don’t want the hue sync inline between my receiver and the tv. Checking for last time this was asked was 2 years ago.

When I finally got my own place a couple years ago I bought a nice TV for the living room (Sony KD-43XH8505) and got some big ol' speakers from my parents house (Alesis M1 Active MK2) and fitted it all into the bookshelf.

The speakers work great but they are studio monitors and are not really built for this use. They are SUPER bassy and boomy and it's causing some problems watching movies, especially action films or films with music. I live in a dense block and it's not really fair on my neighbours. It's also difficult to hear the speech sometimes over everything else!

I want to keep the speakers but I just need to reduce the bass somehow. Is there a way to do this? Unfortunately there is no universal digital EQ on the TV settings as far as I can tell.

I thought about possibly buying some kind of mini amp that had a built in adjustable EQ, if this is even a thing? Some kind of cheap mini adjustable hardware EQ. The only thing i've found like that is the Loki Mini + which isn't for sale anywhere and quite expensive!

Currently the speakers are connected to the TV directly via the 3.5mm headphone jack on the back.

Is there a simple device or solution I can add to reduce the bass output from the TV?

Any help appreciated!

Been looking through the sub for up to date recs on what to run for a ps5. A lot of peeps seem to go overboard. All I’m doing is gaming, however I want a fun immersive experience.

I’m running a 2018 QLED 55 Hisense and an ooold Panasonic receiver with a sub, center and 4 sats. I was hoping to upgrade something but I want the biggest impact. Not overly keen on spending more than 1k AUD I don’t watch movies I just occasionally stream and game. WITHIN these constraints what makes sense? I would love to make my money go as far as possible!

Room I game in isn’t huge, it’s kinda thin tbh so the viewing distance from the tv isn’t far. Maybe a meter? Less than two.

The X550BT is around £100-£150 on eBay whereas the S660H is £350 new on Amazon.

What are the differences between the 2?

Thanks !

Looking to upgrade as a currently have a Pioneer Lx-305 and it's buggy as hell.

My setup is as follows Monitor Audio bronze 500s Towers Monitor audio bronze C150 center Monitor audio bronze 50 surrounds Klipsch rp1200sw

My budget is around 3kcdn. Listen to lots of music so I'm wondering which avrs are the best for music. Also watch movies and game.

Would like to stay away from Pioneer and Onkyo as I've found they don't last very long, at least with my luck.

Thanks for the tips gents, you guys always steer me in the right direction and I appreciate it.

Hello good people,

I bought the M&K Sound Movie 5.1 Set and I'm seeking your advice.

What AV receiver do you think will go best with this speaker set?

I'm new to this stuff, and saw people on youtube telling not to cheap out, and that this set needs a powerful receiver because the speakers are not easy to drive. I intent to use the set mostly for movies, but do not need the volume to make my ears bleed. I don't have a dedicated room, just a corner in the living room.

I had my eye on Denon AVR-X3800H as I think it has enough power to drive these 4 ohm speakers and it also has a good room correction - Audyssey MultEQ XT32. However, I feel it might be an overkill since it has a lot of features that I will never use.

Any advice?

I have this dark band issue on top of the screen and I’ve seen some people mention this already but my issue is that it appears only when using the smart tv but if I use my firestick it’s gone and works fine what could be the issue?

Hi. Looking for a little advice from the community.

We're going to be renovating out house and our current bonus room will be going back to garage space.

This leaves the best movie/tv space the family/kitchen room.

Problem is the wall the TV has to go on to be visible from the kitchen area (and how all the wiring is run through the walls) also happens to be the same wall as the headboard in the master bedroom. Which due to existing doorways can't be changed.

The room is plenty big enough that we could create a false wall and insulate the crap out of it.

Question is, would the double insulated wall (offset studs) be worth the effort? Would it dampen enough of the sound that I would only have to worry about the wrap around sound going down the hallway.

Will this keep my wife from strangling me?

Hey guys, I’m looking to add a Dolby Atmos system for my new home theater station, should I stick with the Dolby Atmos logo for my next purchase or the feature is also supported on classic Dolby Surround systems?

Thank you in advance for your help

I’m getting a good deal on a pair of d110. I was about to pull the trigger on a single E15hp2 (for a bit less money) now I am in analysis paralysis. I honestly do not know which option I should go for.

My current setup is UNUSABLE for music. Primarily because my cheap klipsch subwoofer being so slow. Feels like I am missing half the bass notes in songs.

I want to prioritize my setup for music with 1-2 movies a week but daily music listening.

I still want bass for movie effects, of course. So I still want some chest pound on the occasional movie explosion. Even in songs, I want to be able to feel the kick drum in my chest if possible. But I do want precision above all. So fast attack is a must.

I will be pairing the system with a set of Martin Logan XT F100 with c100 center. Av receiver will be marantz cinema 40.

The question is the subwoofer. 2x d110 or a single e15hp2.

Room size is 15.5w x 18.5L however due to the architecture feels a bit more like a tunnel.

I'm looking for a home theatre set to pair with my new 83" LG C3.

I have listened to handful of high end speakers and really liked the profile of the Klipsch reference premiere line.

I almost pulled the trigger on a recent adorama bundle ( 2x RP-8060FA II, RP-504C II, + 2x RP-502S II for $1649, missing a sub and receiver) but the formerly poor hoodrat in me felt like I could do better on facebook marketplace if I settled with older models that still put out good sound.

The only issue is i'm totally new to home theatre and don't have a feel for the older models. For example someone posted a center (RP-250) and two book shelves (RP-160M) for just $400 - seems like a steal to me but i'm not sure if speakers that old are just not worth it or if they'd be compatible with atmos or other features.

I was wondering if anyone here had insight on some models they thought would perform comparable center/tower/surround speakers. I have a medium-large living room with 12 ft ceilings. I'm budgeting all in for 1500-2000 (which is why the adorama deal is just a little too pricey for me)

Feel free to let me know it's too much information to relay and I should just buy new lol. Thanks in advance!

I'm planning to add a 3.1 setup for my living room, and need some help. The main uses are movies, music and TV (in that order) to be used with an 83" LG G3 (currently being shipped). I'm already over my $2500 budget, and needed help with the following:

  1. Is the receiver powerful enough to drive/power the speakers and sub I have listed?
  2. Should I chose a sealed or ported sub?
  3. Any general suggestions on how to improve my setup without increasing the price much more?
  4. General thoughts?

RECEIVER: Onkyo TX-RZ50 ($1200)

SUBWOOFER: SVS PB-1000 ($800)

L/R SPEAKERS: KEF Q150 Bookshelf - Pair ($350)

CENTER: KEF Q250c Center Channel Speaker ($600)

Hey There i'm so confused between what projectors to buy. I was looking at the VIZONY 800ANSI and the ULTIMEA apollo p40 projector and a few others and am very confused on what to get. I just want to find the best PICTURE QUALITY projector that will be used in a super dark room for around $200 could be a bit more if needed. Sound doesn't really matter i'm gonna hook up my speakers to it and will most likely hook up my laptop or ps5 to it for netflix and stuff. Please help me choose a projector.
