Premier Doug Ford has long insisted that he and his office was not involved in picking which Greenbelt and rural properties to approve for housing development, but there's growing evidence calling that claim into question.

I went to the Ontario Hydro calculator to look at switching from oil heating to electric (natural gas not available here). This calculator says that I can save about $400 per year by switching. I have much doubt about this. Has anyone actually done this switch? Do you believe this?

Edit: some more info I should have provided:

First of all, I believe this would be for a forced air electric furnace. This should easily swap in for my oil furnace, I would just have to add a 220 line.

I live in central Ontario. I don't have or need/want air conditioning, so there is nothing to save there.

I am not sure about a heat pump for my case, since it would not be used in the summer and they become less efficient as it gets colder. I am not sure I can rely on a heat pump as my only heating source.

Sarah Jama, an MPP from Hamilton-Centre, has been removed from the Ontario NDP caucus. This decision was made by NDP Leader Marit Stiles due to Jama's unilateral actions that undermined the collective work and trust of her colleagues. Some of her actions were reported to have contributed to unsafe work environments for staff.

This decision coincides with ongoing censure proceedings by the Doug Ford government regarding Jama's comments on the Israel-Gaza war, where she called for an end to "Israeli apartheid" and faced accusations of having a history of antisemitism.

At this point, it might be more efficient to start reporting on anything that the Ford government does that isn't a cynical, abjectly corrupt effort to enrich his friends.

What a disgrace.

Mississauga city council voted down a proposal on Wednesday that would have allowed fourplexes across the city but it decided instead to ask staff to consult on the feasibility of the idea and report back.

In a tie vote, council defeated the motion moved by Ward 2 Coun. Alvin Tedjo and seconded by Ward 5 Coun. Carolyn Parrish. The motion, which aims to address what is widely referred to as the "missing middle" of housing availability, called on the city to allow four units "as of right" in Mississauga. A fourplex is a residential building with four separate dwelling units.

But Steve Clarke orchestrating or being unaware that his chief of staff was orchestrating a multi-billion dollar abjectly corrupt transfer of 8 billion dollars of unearned benefit is totally cool?

Hussain and Sunrise’s co-director, Muzammil Kodwavi, had improperly diverted more than $10 million intended for the townhouse project, the receiver alleged. The money was allegedly transferred to the two directors as well as several other companies they’re affiliated with.

Schools don't make people more liberal, exposure to reality makes people more liberal.
